Slechte service

Kamer netjes en uitzicht fantastisch. Schoonmaak slecht doucheput verstopt met haren. Heel erg gehorig. Service is er niet bij. Wij hadden geen water en zou nog een week duren vertelde mevrouw bij de receptie. Wij mochten dan bij Maracaibo douchen bij het zwembad, slapen in villa Magna en voor toiletbezoek naar Maracaibo. Ze had geen vergelijkbare kamers. Toen wij zelf een ander hotel hadden geboekt had mevrouw opeens een kamer.

Wonderful boutique hotel

Enjoyed a short 5 day last minute break at the beginning of August after not holidaying for 8 years. We were more than impressed with this small boutique hotel. Included in the price was the safety deposit box, tv, all kitchen equipment, air conditioning and even a welcome bottle of wine on arrival! Reception is 24 hours but located across the road at the Maracaibo Aparthotel, the reception staff were wonderfully helpful. Access to the hotel is via smart card and room key, despite no onsite staff we never had any security concerns. The room was cleaned daily with new towels each day, loo rolls were provided along with a tea towel and even washing up liquid. The hotel is located on the left of the valley looking away from the beach, it’s a bit of a walk but the Maracaibo allows guests to use the lifts and short cut through their gardens and rear access gate, this was very useful and saves lots of time / effort when walking to the beach or commercial centre. It was quiet when we stayed as it was early season so we were able to use all of the facilities at the Maracaibo as well, including pool, pool bar etc and were able to leave bags there on check out day, they even offered us towels if we wanted to use the pool before transfer collection. There are only 15 apartments in the hotel, we were one of only 3 couples staying as it was early season so it was wonderfully peaceful and we had the pool to ourselves every day for all 5 days, the only people we saw in the hotel was the lovely friendly cleaner and the pool staff who serviced and cleaned the pool daily. It’s 20 odd years since we last visited Puerto Rico, it’s grown considerably though we did feel the beach, commercial centre and park are looking a little dated and ready for a spruce up. We ate most nights at the commercial centre which is busy with a really good mix of restaurants and bars to suit all budgets. 1 bar (can’t remember the name) it’s a cocktail place upstairs on the right when you first enter even allows patrons to purchase food from a takeaway opposite then eat at their tables whilst you drink! Highly recommended if you just fancy a cheap burger or kebab with a pint one night. Venture further inland past the commercial centre to where the old water park used to be and there is a ‘New’ commercial centre/ mall. All very modern and ‘swish’, bigger ‘high street’ stores and high end outlets and restaurants. The shopping here was excellent with stores such as JD, Pull and Bear, Stradivarius and Lefties (recommended). We thoroughly enjoyed our short break at Villa Magna and would love to visit again, perhaps for a fortnight next time to give us the opportunity to explore the island a bit more.

Perfect

We arrived late evening and as per instructions picked up keys etc from the adjacent Hotel Maracaibo. Although the Villa Magna has a reception it is never manned. We were on the top floor, room 11, on the end. The views are magnificent. Mountains and the sea. The rooms were spotless, cleaned virtually every day. We asked for more pillows, they arrived quickly. The staff and receptionists over the road were very friendly and helpful. The pool was cleaned daily. You can short cut to the harbour and beach through the Maracaibo, very handy. It would have been a 5*, but we were woken in the early hours one day by a family arguing, screaming and shouting. One of the sons was only 17. Pedantic maybe but it's adults only and could have been avoided. We will go again.

Beautiful hotel

A stunning location with beautiful views we are going back in May and cannot wait apartment was lovely everything we needed was there pool was warm and there was always plenty of sun beds would highly recommend

Great apartments - more than basic amenities, quiet & simple.

I like the apartments, the bathroom, the pool & sunbathing area & the location - peace & quiet all around & far enough from el centro. I also love the fact that there is a great restaurant nearby and a super friendly supermarket which stocks all my essentials!
