Fantastisk ferie
Vi var 3 voksne afsted i uge 35 & 36/2023. Vi boede nederst i familiebolig nr. 213. Mange skriver værelserne er små. For os var det en fin størrelse. Jeg havde mit eget soveværelse, og kunne lukke døren ud til opholdsrummet hvor der står 2 sovesofaer. Der er aircondition i både opholdsrum og i soveværelse. Udsigten og beliggenheden er helt fantastisk. Det tager 12 min at gå ned til byen og måske nok 20 min at gå tilbage grundet de stejle bakker. Du skal ikke være gangbesværet. Stort udvalg af skøn morgenmad fra kl. 8.00 Dejligt pool område og sol terrasse nede ved havet. Pragtfuldt, at man kan låne en kajak gratis. Der er i alt 3 stk. samt 2 redningsveste. Personalet er serviceminded og behagelige. Hotellet vil jeg dog ikke give 4 stjerner, men derimod kun 3. Boligen er mangelfuld på skabsplads taget i betragtning af, at der skal kunne være plads til 4 personer. Der er ingen knagerækker trods der er rigeligt med vægplads. Vi var i boligen i 14 dage, og der blev ikke skiftet eller rengjort kopper og glas på noget tidspunkt. Der forefindes ikke andet i boligen udover 2 kopper, 2 glas, kaffemaskine og El – koger. Sæbedispenser på toilet blev ikke fyldt op i hele perioden. Værelserne kunne godt trænge til en opdatering. Der blev lagt rene lagner og håndklæder hver dag, og der blev gjort rent hver dag. Der må ikke smides toiletpapir i toilettet, men i en spand ved siden af. Men alt i alt – vi havde en dejlig ferie, og kommer gerne tilbage. At vågne hver morgen til udsigten, er intet mindre end fantastisk.
DECEITFUL
Views of the sea are great as hotel in on a Cliff Face. Stairs and steep gradients to climb everywhere !!!! The upstair rooms have roughly 15 steps, very very narrow stairwell that twists . TOTALLY inappropriate to stay if you have injuries or health issues or have small children . Cannot take large suitcases like 82cm heights 23 kg ones to upstairs rooms. Nothing of this nature is declared or mentioned in website or booking sites. They only mention upstairs rooms. There are stairs or uphill ramps to go to breakfast or pool or beach depending where your room is situated . Will never stay there again Totally deceiving the public
Nice from far but far from nice
This hotel should probably not be a 4 star hotel. On all the pictures I looks super nice but in reality it’s really worn. Almost all of the sun beds, both by the pool and by the ocean deck should be replaced. The ocean deck has a lot of nails that should be hammered down, don’t walk bare feet. The pool is really dirty, although cleaned every morning it is full of seaweed and algae in the afternoons… The food in the bar/restaurant is average and the portions are really small, and it also closes 16:00. The breakfast is good if you arrive early, otherwise it gets picked out quite fast. The location as absolutely amazing and the view from the balcony’s are to die for. Beware that the rooms on the ground floor does not have ocean view. The beds are good. If you want take shower late in the evening/night there is no hot water (yes I know they are heating the water during the day but should be like this on 4 star hotel) The staff does their best to help you but the level probably doesn’t match my expectations of a 4 star hotel. Finally, it’s a good place but I expected more. Would not return.
A 2* property masquerading as a 4* resort.
We chose a stay at The Costa Smeralda hotel in Syvota(on the mainland of Greece, north of Parga, not in Lefkada as location on this site suggests) having reviewed the location, feedback from other guests and star rating. We drove through beautiful Syvota town down a narrow windy lane arriving at the property. The property is made up of individual blocks of 4 rooms - 2 rooms x on the ground floor and 2 x rooms up a very narrow and steep staircase above. For travellers with mobility issues, this is definitely not a good choice of hotel for this reason and multiple other staircases to other levels of the hotel. The location of the property is good and as per the images. The hotel does have a great vista. However, sadly, it all ends there. Upon arrival we were directed by a member of cleaning staff to a small dirty shack / shed at the car park entrance gate. This was the hotel reception?! Our rooms weren’t ready, but the first check in agent offered to keep our bags and suggested we enjoy some lunch whilst we waited. We descended x3 staircases to a small bar / restaurant for a very basic lunch menu consisting of a Greek salad / cheese and ham toasties / toasted sandwiches & a basic pizza. The lunch was acceptable but nothing special. Along our way down, we noticed poorly covered drains, litter (cigarette butts etc) and a general lack of care and attention. A camouflage covered caravan weirdly sat in one public space. There were boxes and empty bottles piled everywhere. We then proceeded to the pool and, upon further inspection, noticed dirt, hair and debris and a layer of green slime on the tiles. The water appeared quite murky. There wasn’t any way I was going to put the kids in the pool. The loungers all around were all chipped of paint and my daughter’s chair was broken and dangerous. We reviewed the rooms after this and were quite taken aback at how small, pokey and basic they were. The hotel was marketed as a 4 *? They’re furnished to a low standard - perhaps as one might expect from a 2 * property. The furniture was functional but quite old fashioned. It proved very difficult for two people to manoeuvre around one another, never mind with two suitcases. Lugging these up and down a narrow, steep staircase was quite a challenge! The bathroom was no different- small, basic and a little musty / smelly. Otherwise it was clean. We decided after reviewing all this to check out. We spoke to the receptionist - who claimed her name was “Zoe”, the reservations manager. When contacted by booking.com a few hours later she admitted to remembering us, told them her name was Celia and she was just a reception agent. This lady (whomever she was) was a quite possibly the rudest member of staff I have ever come across. After stating our reasons for an early checkout, she refused to allow us to leave without full payment for the overnight stay and when we refused because the hotel was in a very bad state and that we’d not even used our rooms, she became defensive and aggressive, raising her voice at us insisting everything in this hotel was just perfect and we should liaise with booking.com. Ours was an issue she simply wasn’t interested in assisting us with. We asked to re-enter our rooms to take some photos and she insisted she came with me in case I’d broken anything ?!? She accompanied me to the rooms, arguing vehemently along the way that we owed them the cost of a full night as we’d checked in and had been at the property (lunch) for a few hours. My husband and I have travelled extensively and stayed in hundreds of hotels and quite honestly we have never encountered such arrogance nor the rude and aggressive manner in which this woman spoke to us. We asked to speak to the hotel manager. She claimed he couldn’t speak English and, upon insisting she call him, once she reluctantly agreed to hand over the phone so we could speak to him, he hung up. Another example of the diabolical service offered by this property. We promptly left the hotel as we were no longer welcome and had no intention of spending another moment in this resort. We checked into a neighbouring resort and contacted booking.com to submit our complaint. Whilst the agent was incredibly understanding and empathetic stating we are absolutely within our rights to leave a property if we are unhappy with the size of rooms/ facilities etc, we are yet to find out if they’ll indeed be able to successfully resolve the issue and provide us with a refund.
Claes to beach and Marina
Great location close to the beach and the port of Sivota. The rooms were really clean and staff was nice. Good breakfast and nice selection of meals in the pool bar. Hotel does not offer dinner restaurant but there are lots of nice places to eat in the harbour me. Lots of sunbeds and umbrellas by the pool and by the sea.
