Rauhallinen hotelli hyvällä paikalla
Hotellialue on viihtyisä ja omassa rauhassa. Valtaosa asakkaista on saksalaisia ja osa henkilökunnasta puhuu paremmin saksaa kuin englantia. Varasimme double Roomin merinäköalalla. Saimme huoneen erillisestä rakennuksesta (studiohuoneisto), joissa oli oma sisäänkäynti huoneestoon. Sijainti oli rauhallinen ja parvekkeelta oli näkymä merelle ja pihalle. Yöllä huoneeseen kuului meren äänet eli herkkäuniselle korvatulpat on hyvä varuste. Huone oli siisti, mutta jo pienen remontin tarpeessa. Huoneessa oli smarttv ja wifi toimi hyvin myös huoneessa. Huoneessa on safetybox, johon saa respasta "avaimen" pientä päivämaksua vastaan. Aamiainen oli ihan riittävän monipuolinen ja hotellin ravintolat ihan hyviä. Lähistöltä ja Canicon kylässä on myös hyviä ravintoloita. Hotellialueella on minimarket (josta saa mm. parempia karttoja ym) ja muutaman sadan metrin päässä sparkauppa. Paikallisbussit kulkevat Funchaliin noin tunnin välein. Vaeltamaan pääsee (itäistä reittejä) myös Canicon yläpuolelta menevän tien varren bussipysäkiltä (Asamada), vaatii toki viitseliäisyyttä kulkea sinne asti.
A well located hotel.
We had a lovely relaxing weeks holiday at this relatively small hotel. It is advertised as being environmentally-friendly which it is. The facilities, gym, pool, etc are good and well run. The hotel is close to the sea and diving school. The staff were efficient, friendly and helpful.
When we first arrived we got off to a really bad start.The room was not ready and the young guy on reception just kept on pointing out the website which indicated 2pm (it was about 11.30) We asked if there was somewhere we could put our luggage He showed us down to the luggage room and opened the door.Ince we dropped the luggage I asked what we do now ?? He said we were free to do what we want …. Baffled I said I had no idea where I was or what facilities were available.He was surprised that I was not happy being dumped in the luggage area He then said I’m not supposed to do this but I’ll give you a card so you can open doors ?? May I suggest next time he gives us towels and takes time to show guests round We opened our cases so we could change (in luggage room )then worked out the way to the pool After 2.5 hours I went to main reception to ask about the room.I was still annoyed at this point however the young lady with glasses on reception was extremely polite and explained everything I was shown to my room that was perfect I went to get my partner so we could now empty our cases in the room and have a base for the week Staff at this hotel are very pleasant and it’s a quiet peaceful place Food is very good however we visited the snack bar and explained my partner was “Gluten” free The waitress looked blank and said there was nothing she could give her !! She just ate the free crisps ! Downstairs was a different story where the chef was well aware of Gluten intolerance and went to fetch some freshly cooked bread so she could have a lovely bacon and egg sandwich We ate one night in the restaurant where again the staff were very attentive Pool area is very quiet and spotlessly clean,in fact the whole place is super clean We took advantage of the couple spa and massage €107 which was very well executed and very enjoyable Before we were leaving we worried we had not received our PCR test appointment through Madeira safe.Hotel reception organized the appointment and came to find us by the pool to let us know. We then went by taxi to the airport €20 to receive our tests (You can get in your room but €95 We used the gym everyday which was constantly cleaned Save a couple of hiccups this hotel is brilliant and would highly recommend

Tourism is Madeira’s lifeblood and Madeirans in taxis, hotels, restaurants and shops know it. Hotel Galomar has stunning views, private access to the clear, clean ocean, pristine cleanliness throughout, lots of activities and delightful staff. The gardeners, cleaners, life guards, waiters, chefs and receptionists are like a family. We found them unfailingly courteous and helpful. We came for one month and stayed for four because of the pandemic. We could because we’re retired and felt completely safe from Covid-19. The hotel is popular with Northern Europeans. They expect and receive high standards. We’ll be back next year! N & J
The rooms are spacious and perfect for families, and they add extra beds free of charge. We found a nice deal with meals included in the restaurant. Not very organised, the receptionists informed us upon arrival that the swimming pool had a maximum time of 1h per family, and it had to be booked, which was never refered during the several e-mail exchanges regarding this booking. Due to the bad weather conditions and travelling with kids, the indoor swimming pool was an important asset. When we directly contacted the pool, they said there was no problem and we ended up spending the afternoon there. The pool is in the public gym, and we have to cross all the hotel, with 2 elevators, several flights of stairs, and no toilet inside the pool. Overall, not a good choice for families. Regarding the restaurant, food was good but the service was very confusing. Although the waiters were trying, you could understand that they were understaffed. Overall,I was not impressed, and will definitely not return.
