Simply the best!
Absolutely loved it here! We had the best room in the hotel (104) as mentioned by many. Low level with private balcony and stunning views. Studio was perfect with everything you needed and spotlessly clean. The 2 lovely room maids were wonderful and did an excellent job and were so much fun too we looked forward to their visit every day. Easy walk into town with some lovely restaurants. Never a problem getting a sunbed either here or the sister hotel’s swimming pool. The sea was oh so clear and wonderful to swim in once you have got over the mini stony beach. The owners are wonderful and it made me smile every day just hearing Maria laughing away in the snack bar. This truly is a gem of a place and oh so pleased we chose it. By far the best on the island.
Fabulous Ilidi Rock
We were so glad we chose Ilidi Rock. The apartment we had was on the lower level, scrupulously clean and facing the bay with bougainvillea surrounding the balcony. We didn’t need to use the air conditioning at this time of year as the room fan was sufficient. Laundry and bed linen were changed frequently and the room cleaned daily. Apart from the evenings and a couple of specific trips we didn’t move far from Ilidi Rock! There were plenty of sun loungers available, and the snorkelling around the area is good, with plenty of fish and the sea is so clear so that’s what we did most days. Sea shoes are necessary for use on the beach area. There is a fresh water shower on the beach which is good to get rid of the salt. The snack bar serves breakfast and lunch which were all lovely. We had Greek salad and Mythos most lunchtimes! Maria and her family were absolutely lovely. When we were stranded by ferry cancellation we were able to keep the room on without problems. The local Sunvil rep organised everything in liaison with Maria. It was an added bonus to the holiday. All the staff were friendly, but professional which made for a very pleasant stay. This is real Greece, and just ticked all the right boxes for us.
Wonderful.
Friends had recommended this island and this hotel and we were so glad they did! The island is very quiet and relaxing, so much so I forgot to checkin for our return flight. This hotel is wonderful! Our room had a lovely balcony festooned with bright pink bourgainvillea, stunning and visible from our bed! All the rooms face the bay I believe. The room was well equipped and had a small and well stocked kitchenette along with a large bathroom. Apart from the number of steps we had to climb to get down to our room to the beach area, great exercise and a cardio workout, the other feature was the family who run the hotel. They couldn’t have been more warm, friendly and efficient! We broke our rule of always eating at a different place as the snack bar had the most wonderful specials cooked at lunchtime by Maria’s mother. They changed every day and were proper home cooked Greek dishes, delicious too. Maria is marvellous. If she’s not in charge of the reception she was waiting on tables in the snack bar. She never seemed to stop working and was never anything less than cheerful, chatty and helpful. We will be back. It was perfect.
What a great place!!
We stayed with them for a week this month. Arriving at 10.00 am with the ferry from Rhodes, we were collected by Kostas and on arrival some five minutes later, shown to our room. No waiting for the room to be ready, all sorted. Lovely big room with the best view we have ever had from our bed. Food at the snack bar was good and again lovely friendly service. Maria and her Dad at Reception were always available and saved the day for us when hubby's back went, and Maria ran home to get painkillers for him. Above and beyond the service level expected!! The room had everything we needed, they even extended our stay because our ferry was leaving in the evening. The view from the room across the bay is spectacular I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anybody, if you have an issue with steps then ask for a room at Reception level, better still you can hire a car and park it near reception. First class hotel, first class people.
Absolutely beautiful
Stayed here for a week from Aug 31st-7th September. I'd booked through Olympic so the flights to Rhodes and ferry transfer over to Tilos were all sorted. I had booked morning flights so I didnt have to overnight in Rhodes which although it's a longer day, the sunset arriving into Tilos was worth it. The hotel is thr first thing you see on the ferry and its more beautiful in person than photos can ever show you (especially as it was dark by the time I arrived at the island). Maria met us at the harbour and was professional and as hospitable as anyone could be! Greek hospitality in general is just so pure and amazing. A quick demo of the hotel (they sell water and AC and you just take what water you need and pay at the end). They also have a sheet for if you go on a long walk, you put your name, mobile number, what time you left etc which is a really good idea in case anything happens to you). Room (junior sea view suite) was very spacious. If anything, I was solo so it was too big for me, but has everything you need if you wnated to cook (although, the tavernas on the island meant you never need to!). The beach area was lovely. Plently of sunbeds on offer. It was slightly busier when I first arrived (I assume because the tailend of the school holidays) but once it hit the Monday, most days only a handful of beds were taken (in my photo, this was the view all day, basically only me). Set slighty out of the village, it only takes a couple of mins to reach the harbour and the main sqaure with all the shops located here. Along the beach front there were lots more cafes and tavernas all offering something slighty different along with the usual Greek fare. My favoutite was Armenon. Tilos itself is very laid back. My favourite was always Kefalonia, a big island but felt like it away from the tourist side of Greece, but Tilos is even mkre removed, which is perfect if you tire of hundreds of tourists and all the trappings that come with it. Tilos has now took that #1 spot, which is thanks to Ilidi Rock and its wonderful family running it!
