Definitely not what it seems

Let’s start on the plus side. This modern hotel is situated at the beachfront along a quiet road: peaceful nights are guaranteed. There is a large pool with comfortable sunbeds. The rooms are rather minimalistic and very clean. The guy with the special hairdo at reception is very helpful. So far for the silver lining on this very dark cloud. The problem with this hotel is that it pretends to be something it does not even come close to. Whoever rated this hotel with 5 stars must have been either drunk, high, or just way out of his or her mind. The name of the hotel suggests that this is the place to relax. A lady with a very creepy, fake smile at reception even tells everyone on arrival to sit down and relax. So guests who want to relax go to the pool, have a nap, read a book, have a dip in the pool, and then suddenly a dj “pumps up the jam” up to 87 decibels. No more sleeping, no more reading because it is hard to concentrate with that kind of noise, no more talking to each other, so as a result several people flee. And then there is the food-issue. I have been to Greece several times, all over the mainland and to many different islands, so I had high expectations concerning the food. Let’s start with breakfast: to be honest, there is plenty of choice. If you are a fruit-yogurt or a cereal person, you should be fine. But if you like your breakfast cooked, this is not the place to go. Everything that should be hot e.g. bacon, eggs, beans, … is just stone cold. You can actually see a person frying the eggs, putting them on a cold platter and putting the platter in an oven that is not even switched on. If you like a hot drink for breakfast you should opt for tea because that is the only thing they can actually serve hot. Coffee is served lukewarm. The other meals served at the restaurant are also not something to write home about: tasteless and cold, and lack of variation. In the pool bar area you can eat “à la carte”. Don’t get excited, dear reader, they just make a big song and dance over a very simple pasta dish. Making it sound like haute cuisine but actually my granddad could do better and he never comes near the kitchen. After a couple of days we got so fed up with the creepy smiles of some of the employees and the horrible food, we went down the road to Proimos restaurant where we had a decent hot breakfast and genuine Greek and Cretan food. I suggest that you make sure you take your own entertainment because although there may be a big TV-screen in the room, you will not find a lot worth watching. Or an even better suggestion would be that you spend your well earned money somewhere else.

Nice hotel but wouldn't recommend.

Stayed at this hotel 15th to 24th September 2023,hotel it's self is lovely looking and extremely clean, however ...I'm not sure looking at other reviews people are giving correct reviews, The hotel is advertised having a lobby bar,it does but for the whole of our stay it was shut. We Stayed half board, breakfast was adequate but served on cold plates and never seen chicken pie or sprouts on a breakfast buffet. The evening meals were very poor, the food was look warm served on cold plates so by the time you got back to your seat the food was virtually cold,endured 4 nights of look warm food before deciding to eat out for the other 5 nights,food tastes so much better when it's hot. Another reason for eating out..there's more atmosphere at a wake than in this hotel in the evening, it would have helped had the lobby bar been open ?...we caught the bus to plantanis for a couple of meals and entertainment, and the hotel next door to the myrion which served great food and would highly recommend. Bedroom a bit weird,lovely clean room but no privacy for myself or my wife when showering or using the toilet as the toilet has frosted glass door so as I'm sure you can imagine when toilet light is on you can see your partners silhouette through the door and no privacy when drying yourself after a shower call me old fashioned ? The bed was very comfy and large and the room was cleaned to a high standard every day with 2 bottles of water provided daily. The pool area was great ,plenty of sun beds and a lovely pool to swim in,also waiter service around the pool and beach which is a nice touch. The hotel is right on the beach but wasn't to our liking due to finding it very difficult to get in the water due to the amount of large pebbles, hardly a sandy beach,I've seen less aggregate on a building site,so we visited agia marina which has a great sandy beach. On the whole the hotel looks lovely, the reception staff are very friendly and helpful, the staff are very friendly and hardworking.

CRETE 2023!

This hotel deserves a 5* review!! Hotel staff are amazing. Reception has one of the best staff. On arrival we got offered Prosecco which took us by surprise not even a 5* star hotel does that. The hotel itself is sooo clean and modern. The rooms are spacious & beautiful. Got 2 Tv’s. Coffee/tea. All free of charge yo use. Ladys downstairs helped us have the best getaway possible! Chania is the place - old town harbour recommended to go. Clubs, restaurants & souvenirs found here. Its a 20 min drive by taxi but reception can call one for you. We struggled on day1 to come back but was given a business card so then it made it easier to find a taxi! Elafosini Beach & Falasarna beach - MUST SEE. Crystal clear water with a beautiful sunset like Mykonos. Christina & Elena & Anna. Thank you for making the 2 sisters have a great holiday! Hope to see you again ! :)

Absolutely fantastic hotel

Absolutely fantastic hotel - from the service,staff, friendlyness,facilities, cleanliness and area - room 1115 was fantastic with great views. Maya and Theadora looked after us so well, thanks all for fabulous holiday, we'll be back xx

Absolutely fantastic stay !!!!

Well I’m so glad my wife found this hotel. Firstly the hotel is super modern and so clean, all the staff greeted us on arrival and helped park the hire car. Also took our bags to our room in the golf cart. Room was unbelievable 2 floors had a pool and side sea view totally better than anything I imagined. The bed was really comfortable and the room had everything you need with a balcony. Room was cleaned to a height standard everyday. The pool area was brilliant plenty of beds and the sun all day long. We are in the Al carte restaurant about 3 times everything was 10/10. The cocktails were also fantastic, the service was really good around the restaurant all day long. The gym had enough in we didn’t use the spa. The breakfast buffet was really good had something for everyone and they change it up. We went on the beach which is literally 1 min walk from our room a few times and enjoyed it there. We went to Chania about 3 times during our stay we walked onto the main road about 5 mins from hotel and it cost €2 each. Chania itself is beautiful lots of amazing places to eat and a bit cheaper than the hotel. We went out for about 3 day trips in the hire car absolutely loved getting around the island of Crete. On the whole the hotel was brilliant I would totally reckoned if you want a nice chilled atmosphere then this is the hotel for you. I’d like to say thank you to all the staff we will be back next year at some point. Places to visit Balos beach, Chania, Paleochora, Gramvousa fort
