We recently visited Albania and we stayed in Dhermi for 2 nights. We were pleasantly surprised by the great service and accommodation in at the Splendor Hotel and Spa. Very clean and full service. The beach is great with a small cafe that serves drinks. It was 6 of us all ages including young adults and we all felt the same. The views from the terrace and the pool area were great. The food was very good. The staff spoke English specially Klevin. This was a great experience. The service and accommodation exceeded our expectations
We have traveled in Albania four times and love the country and it's people for their unique culture. This is the first time we've traveled to the south and we chose this hotel because it was close to the beach and the reviews were good. I will be the first to agree that this is not a five star hotel in context of other major cities and resort areas. However, it is splendidly Albanian because it is a work in progress. All Albania is a work in progress so the fact that the hotel wasn't perfect didn't surprise us in the least. We were there in the off season and almost had the hotel to ourselves. Our sons had a double room with the mountain view. It was quite small but, as we've come to expect, there was a third couch-like bed in the room just in case other family arrived. Our suite also had an extra bed. This is typical for Albania where families travel together. Somehow we scored the honeymoom suite with a huge round bed. This was definitely a first for us and we got a kick out of it. We had a stunning ocean view and large balcony but there were no chairs on the balcony. They were happily brought up upon request. Amenities were minimal. Tiny, tiny bars of soap and small bottles of shampoo. We were provided robes but they were quite scratchy. Still, they were thoughtfully placed in the room and were roomy enough enough for my tall husband. For the first two days the internet didn't work but they fixed it and even offered my son and I (we had work obligations) the hotel's office computer when the WiFi was sketchy. The lobby had toys for children and a television going constantly, but every evening it was like joining family as they had our Raki waiting. The pool is exquisite, the grounds need work. The beach is beautiful but you have to walk 100 yards past trash dumpsters. The restaurant was out of almost everything because it was off season, but so were most of the restaurants in the area. Yes, the garage was dark and used for storage, but what the heck, the spaces were large and the elevator was right there. What makes this a four star - and maybe even better than a five star hotel - are the incredibly wonderful people who work there. Clevis and Natalie must get special shout outs. They let me practice my Albanian with them and were kind enough not to laugh too hard. Natalie waited breakfast service long past the 10:00 cut off because she wanted to make sure I had something to eat. The lovely owner showed us her paintings, talked about books and was beyond gracious. So, if you go to the Splendor Hotel bring a bar of soap and some extra shampoo and expected a warm welcome and a work-in-progress true Albanian experience. If you do that, you'll have a wonderful, relaxing time.
Agree with other reviews that this is not a 5 star hotel, probably more like 3 star. We had a great family suite on the top floor with excellent sea views. The room was well appointed, However the shower tray leaked. We chose to have dinner at the hotel and the 15 euro dinner was well worth it! Kids dinner options were limited. Breakfast was ok but not replenished frequently enough. Overall staff were helpful. Nice pool for the kids.
All the negative reviews that you read are 100% true. 5 star standard for this hotel is a joke. Extremely overpriced for the service you get. 1. First dispointment - the restaurant toiletts. Dirty and no paper 2. Having arrived in hotel around 9.30 am one of my kids wanted breakfast. We went to the breakfast buffet and got 2 suny side up eggs. They were cold like cooked 2 hours ago. 5 minutes later we were asked to sign a 20 usd receipt for eating 3 breakfast menus. Explaining to the waiter that we only had one breakfast i thought everything was clear. 3. The room was ok but far away from 5 star standars. The small tv with all cables visible could show only 5 channels. The bathroom was organised on the strangest way possible. You cant sit on the toilette without bumping your knee to the sink furniture. You cant bent over to wash your face because there is only 30cm space between the shower cabin and the sink.the mirror has a led strip glued on top when it is turned on is right into your face. There is not even a glass or cup to place your tooth brushes never mind the rest. 4. Best part - breakfast is a big lough. Withou mentioning the very low variaty of the food, if you dont wake up at 8.30 you dont eat. They only replanish food once. After that no more. I couldnt believe people was going to breakfast buffet area and did not find anything. Not even a slice of bread. Went to get water and coudnt find the glasses and the bottles. I then realised that the water was on a big water dispanser and you had to use plastic cups for the water. Single use plastic cups on a 5 star hotel!!!!!!!!! No waiter was ever around and all the tables were uncleaned from the dishes of the previous clients. 5. On the checkout they overcharged me. The bill was including the 20 usd more for one breakfast/two eggs which i thought i clarified with the waiter. While i was explaining to the reception lady the mistkae, an old lady that was around all the time on her house dress ordered the receptionst to reduce the bill for some 7 usd like she just wanted to get done with my issue. Bottom line, this hotel lacks the managment concept big time. It is managed by an old lady that has no clue what hotel management is. They will also find everyway to overcharge you. The food and drinks are extremely expensive for what you get. My advice: AVOID THIS HOTEL!!!!
Best And Friendliest Hotel in Dhermi
Simply the best in Dhermi, it is my second time here. Luxury hotel with an amazing private beach and sea. The beach bar and restaurant are amazing. Good breakfast, modern rooms and a nice spa! Definitely gonna come back here at least once every summer.
