Kolme yötä täällä
Kaunis, hobittimainen. Hiukan hutera äänieristys, naapurin suihkuhetki kuuluu hyvin. Parkkimahdollisuudet satunnaisia, rattiin paras taskuparkkeeraja. Aamiainen ihan huippu!
An enjoyable stay in a well run hotel
Hotel Estepona Palace is an excellent hotel and worthy of its 4 star rating. There is more than enough choice in the buffet style restaurant both at breakfast and in the evening. However, some of the hot dishes are kept warm on heated metal plates and are just not hot enough. That aside, as mentioned previously, there is plenty of choice and something for everyone, no matter what your taste in food. All of the staff are extremely friendly and the service is always good at reception and in the bars and restaurants. The bedrooms are in good condition, very clean and well kept. We did struggle to charge our phones and tablets in the room. Some of the sockets did not seem to make a very good connection and this was a nuisance. On some mornings the pool music was far too loud and unsuitable for the type of guest staying at the hotel. The music seemed to be geared in favour of the young hotel pool staff rather than the guests. In our opinion loud Hip-Hop and Rap music is not really of any interest to mature guests in the 50 to 80 age group. Generally, we were very happy with our stay at the Estepona Palace and may return in the future.
A return visit to this lovely hotel
Checking in, I was worried we had made a mistake returning. The man on reception was quite negative and our request for a walk-in shower (made 2 months before and acknowledged) had not been allocated. There was then an issue over the key required for the safe (turned out to be a universal key to operate the bolts) which he couldn’t tell us when it would be available. “Possibly today or maybe tomorrow?” not the best member of staff to have checking people in? Not wanting to leave our passports and valuables out, we later spoke to a lady, who immediately found us a key. Charging for a safe in this day and age seems wrong. They also want a cash deposit for the pool towels! Our room was lovely and clean but the bath surface was much too slippery to use the shower. I requested a mat and one was provided. Surely this should have been in the room from the start? The hotel is kept beautifully clean and always smells wonderful. The staff are very friendly. The outdoor pools are great and there is also an option of sun beds on the beach. We stayed on a B&B basis, but since our last visit they now offer all-inclusive. Because of this, people don’t seem to leave the hotel and it is very hard to find a sun bed that doesn’t have a towel, when returning to the hotel, if like us you have been out for the day. The hotel is a long way from the town, and as good walkers this is not an issue. There is a local bus service that goes into the centre about 3 times per hour. We enjoyed our stay and would return, however the introduction of all-inclusive has impacted the hotel for others not on the scheme. There used always to be taxis outside, this time it was quite rare. As we get older we are less likely to want to walk into town.
Clean and Friendly
We were pleasantly surprised at the Estepona Palace, after reading some of the negative reviews we found everything to our liking. We booked a Prestige room on an all inclusive plan which worked out very well. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Clean towels and a newspaper were provided every day as well as a coffee machine. From the balcony were views of the Rock of Gibraltar and of Ceuta in Morocco. The buffet restaurant had an excellent choice of food to suit most taste’s, including a choice of fish or meat cooked to order at the grill. We chose to eat outside for our lunch and evening meals, this made for some very relaxing meal times. I would add however that some food allergy labels would be a tremendous help, you can ask a member of staff but to be fair to them they are always so busy. The pool area has adequate sun beds but a few more umbrellas would be handy, you can’t subject yourself to full sun all day long. A walk into the old part of Estepona was pleasant but a bit too hot with the 30+deg temperature, next time we will use a taxi. To sum up, my wife and I had a lovely relaxing holiday and will certainly be returning next year.
