Good family stay
Stayed at the nesebar Palace with a group of 9 family members... I was very apprehensive reading some if the reviews prior to arriving........however...... it was really good from start to finish..... yes the rooms good do with a refurb. But all clean and spacious.... is it a 5 star probably not but it certainly would be a 4 star or even plus... very very clean hotel and the food was really good ... vast choice from cold meats and salad through to a roast of some description every night..... all inclusive food does tend to be repetitive but there was so much to choose from there was always something different to find.....staff were very pleasant and helpful and couldn't ask for more....... would definitely return.....
Great for Kids
Large complex that is easy to navigate there are lots of activities to keep the Kids amused. On the whole staff were friendly and willing to help, the rooms are large and have everything you need. Food was ok not the best and could have done with being hotter however there was always something to suit all tastes available. WIFI a bit hit and miss and you need to scan a QR code to access which should be given to you on check in but wasn't which i found a bit strange. As an adult only holiday i would not return but if going with children i would as our nice aged 6 absolutely loved the place.
Nice place to stay part from the food
Nessebar is a nice place to stay as it has a nice beach and plenty of swimming pool with slides. The bad side to coming here The food in both restaurants at breakfast lunch and dinner the food was always cold nothing was never hot. The only time we had hot food was at the bar at lunchtime and we had pizza and chips. Some of the drinks are ok like the cocktails the beer and kids drinks as they are most of the time open. If you want more bars and restaurants they are about 10 mins in a taxi or 30 mins walking. Would not come here again if the Food is always cold
Great last minute break
We have recently returned from a last minute TUI break at the Sol Nessebar Palace. We had room 625 and paid £460 each. As everybody knows, you get what you pay for! The room was a great size and spotlessly clean. A fridge was provided although there was a charge for the in-room safe. I have not encountered this in a five-star hotel before. I asked for a quiet room and 625 is on the front of the hotel with a mountain view. Lovely right? Wrong. The balcony was horrendous. It is tiny with a gale force wind blowing constantly. I had hoped to be able to sit out in the evening with a chilled (in my fridge) bottle of wine. Not a chance. The other very odd thing is that the balcony light is centrally controlled by the hotel. If you like to sit in the dark with icy wind blowing at you then this could be the ideal hotel. Unsurprisingly, the pool view (more expensive pay-for-an-upgrade but very noisy) balconies on the opposite side of the hotel are sheltered and much bigger. No chilled wine on the balcony meant I had to get a drink at the hotel bar. It took me a few days to find something I could drink. The local spirits (when mixed with the cheap diet cola) taste like paint thinners. I ended up with a fruit juice cocktail that gave me heartburn so I mainly drank water and tea. My husband tells me the beer is perfectly acceptable. There are Nescafe stations on each floor (coffee, hot chocolate etc) along with water stations to fill your bottle. The pool bar has bigger paper cups for beer. My advice is to take one of those to make your morning coffee in. The ones provided are very small. The hotel itself is beautiful and absolutely spotless. There are people around cleaning and tidying all the time. There are a choice of bars and snack bars. The pizza at the pool bar each afternoon is gorgeous. Fresh donuts at 10am also from the pool bar. Tapas at the Spanish bar or sausage and sauerkraut or a huge pretzel from the German bar. I liked that there are alternatives to the restaurant. If you've ever stayed AI before you'll know what to expect from the buffet restaurant. It's no different to any other place. All the food we tried was well cooked but other than the soup it was all cold. That's a bit harsh. It was lukewarm. Even at 7.30am when the restaurant had just opened. This may be because we didn't plough endless lev into the tips boxes dotted around the cooking stations. I have not encountered this at a five-star hotel previously. I'd like to think that the Sol Melia group pays a reasonable wage and the tips aren't necessary for the staff to make a living. You'll find tips boxes at the bars and reception as well so if you want to be treated like a valued customer make sure you fill them all. If you put enough in you might be able to buy a smile from one of the staff. They are very rare indeed. The pool area is fantastic. Plenty of space and an umbrella for every pair of sunbeds. There were only a few saddo's rushing out at 8am to put a towel down but there are always one or two. Absolutely no need for it at all. The majority of the pool are gets the sun all day. There is a shop on site for all your essentials. She wanted around £6 for a bottle of water. If you go out of the hotel and turn left there's a small shop just across the road which has everything you could need at much more sensible prices. Cigarettes are the same price everywhere. Despite all of the minor problems I had a lovely week in Bulgaria. Nessebar old town is stunning so definitely worth a visit. It's about a thirty minute walk. I got some much needed rest and a decent suntan. We met some lovely people and even saw a wedding at the hotel which was adorable. This hotel has so many good things about it such as the terrace above the main pool, it's gorgeous and well laid out. It has a separate pool with slides for the kids, a mini disco, entertainment, activities, it's clean, it's spacious, on the whole it's lovely but for an alleged five star it should be doing better. My lasting impression of my first trip to Bulgaria is one of faint disappointment. I would definitely return but probably not to this hotel.
