Very good choice

A very nice hotel. Very friendly people. Clean and quiet as well. The location is very good: it is very close to the old town and thus one can visit the old town easily. It is also very easy to get in and out of the city. Reasonable prices with breakfast being optional.

Excellent hotel, great hostess!!!!

What a great place!!! Not only the room is perfect, super modern, very clean but the hospitality is great! Sarah gave us the best restaurants/bars/ coffee shops tips ever! The room is super comfortable, the matress are new, they provide bathrobes, the shower is great! They have free parking and a pool.

Holiday to Rethymno

My boyfriend and I recently stayed here for 5 nights at the start of our holiday to Crete. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a Junior Suite which was a lovely surprise! The hotel is very modern, clean and quiet, but I suspect that this was perhaps due to COVID. The room was spacious and the bed was big and very comfortable. We slept very well and there was no noise. There was a lovely balcony with a view of the Church and the Palaeontology Museum opposite which was very atmospheric and a great place to share a bottle of wine before heading out for dinner in the evening. The shower was great with fantastic water pressure too! The living area with really comfortable and the TV was a nice touch, however the only English channels were news channels - not a problem for us, but maybe for others. It was reassuring to see hand sanitiser stations at al poi The pool was a good size, very clean and nice to cool off in after a day of exploring. The pool is never really in the direct sunshine and is mostly in the shade. This again was not a problem for us, but may be something to consider if you’re looking to spend lots of time by it. The hotel is a short walk to the centre where you can find plenty of tavernas and shops to browse around. We found that the best places to eat were off of the Main Street and down the side roads. Highlights included: “Nyn and Aei,” and “Petra” which had a lovely garden. There was some inconsistency with the housekeeping. On two occasions we were not given a duvet cover and were left with a duvet without a sheet. As soon as we raised this with Sarah, she was extremely apologetic explained that they had a new cleaner who had had to leave in an emergent and changed our sheets for us when we were out for dinner. We were also not given a new loo roll each time the room was cleaned which seemed odd. Complimentary pastries mentioned in other reviews were not always available, so we often went to the bakery around the corner for our breakfast. It was around $1.80 for two small chocolate croissants and a doughnut - We enjoyed these on our balcony with a coffee using the Nespresso machine in the room. There are also plenty of supermarkets nearby which was good for buying snacks and bottles of wine. All in all, The City Hotel and Suites was just what we were looking for. We had a lovely time and would return in future!

Hospitality at it's best!

We stayed here for 2 nights and have nothing but great things to say about this hotel. What really stood out was the hospitality we've received from the lady called Sarah. It was like staying at your friend's place. She was so welcoming and caring and even offered us an upgrade which was very well received. The hotel takes safety measures very seriously and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there during the pandemic. The room was very modern, well equipped and most importantly sound proof which gave us great rest during the nights. It's within walking distance to the bus stop, old town and the beach. My only suggestion would be to get the shower caddy as there's nowhere to put your toiletries whilst having a shower. I highly recommended staying here, thank you for making us feel so welcomed!

Excellent stay, very good value

Stayed for one night in October as a solo business traveler. The hotel is brand new, the standard room I had was spacious with a comfortable bed and very clean. I liked very much the decoration - atmosphere of the hotel. Very nice, modern, not pretendious. The hotel is situated in a quiet area but not very far from the centrum (a 10 minute walk). Very practical that you can park just outside of the hotel. Breakfast has just coffee, croissant/cake and fruits. Extremely good value for money. You cannot receive such high standards at such prices anywhere else. I hope that it remains so. And very friendly service. If you are in budget and would like to visit Rethymnon, this is the place.
