Perheille sopiva

Aamiainen on todella hyvää. Päivitimme juoniori sviittiin, jossa on poreamme terassilla. Huone on todella tilava, hyvin kalustettu, sekä sängyt ovat parhaita, joissa olemme rantakohteessa nukkuneet. Kukaan ei kysynyt meiltä mitä pidimme lomastamme, ei edes check-outin yhteydessä. Emme saaneet edes kiitosta tai hyvästejä. Kaikenkaikkiaan hotelli on toimiva, muttemme aio palata.

Could be perfect…

We’ve just returned from a week at the royal level family club. We really enjoyed our week but our stay unfortunately wasn’t perfect. The quiet family club part of the resort is really well appointed, right on the coast, when we went it wasn’t full, which meant there were loads of sun loungers to choose from. We stayed in a sea view junior suite and it was really well appointed, lovely modern decor, and a sunny but small balcony. On arrival we were greeted with chocolates and a bottle of cava (anniversary) and a fully stocked mini bar (that isn’t replenished) but tea, coffee and water is daily (ask for milk at the pool bar if you need it). We were also given robes, slippers and fresh towels every day. The mattress is super comfy, 3 pillows to choose from and x 2 large tv screens with BBC 1, ITV and Channel 4. The sun beds are super comfy there, the animation staff do x 3 classes/games a day which breaks the day up and the staff were great at the pool bar, just a shame the food offering is so limited with just Pringles or cheese and ham toasties to eat. In the afternoon we’d take a wonder to the marina for ice cream at the parlour which is included in an AI package. The app is good, we checked in and out on it (which I’d recommend doing as waiting times at the reception desk can be long) and helps to explain what’s open and how to get there. We were royal level all inclusive so could go anywhere in the resort that we wanted. The Al Canta restaurant was just across the road, beautiful setting and good service, great choice of wine but food was repetitive. We had our one ala carte meal at the Asian, Hakana, below, which was dreadful, strange service and two choices of starters and mains and one dessert. The sushi and salad were really disappointing and the mains were totally underwhelming, just glad we didn’t have to pay extra for it! We didn’t even stay for the dessert the wait between courses were so long. Such a shame as setting and decor was so lovely. The show bar is also on the marina, entertainment is at 9 most nights, some better than other. Unfortunately the cocktail bar, el Faro at the end of the pier was closed and so was the ala carte Italian for the duration of our stay. We also had access to the Royal Level adults only section as we are a couple with no children. The pool is lovely, with cabanas to lounge in, but was much busier than the family club area so we didn’t bother sunbathing there. We did try the Terra Sana restaurant one night but the food offering was even worse with cold chicken, frozen (yes frozen!) sweetcorn and veal/ rabbit to choose from. They do serve better lunch here though, with an attractive bar menu that includes pasta, salad and club sandwiches (which unfortunately were burnt and the fries raw). We did complain at the time about these issues but they were never followed up. The absolute highlight though was the Terra Sana cocktail bar. Big should out to Alexandra and her colleague (sorry didn’t catch his name!) who make the most amazing cocktails, with table service, we made our way down most of the list, most evenings we caught some entertainment there too, including a DJ and an amazing singer/ violinist Eva. You can also catch entertainment too in the green lobby at the main large hotel. There are looked after stray cats around the resort who are lovely, and African hedgehogs and chipmunks just round the bay. The spa is good and I had a 30 min back massage which was £31 and well worth the money. There’s not too much to do outside of the resort, we did do a dolphin safari on one day, but we were crammed on a fishing boat and was £90 for 2 of us, not really value for money. All in all, the resort could be incredible. They just need to listen to feedback and offer more hot food. The proximity to the airport is good. Only £15 and 15 mins in a taxi.

Family Club Level worth paying extra for

Stayed in the Club Level and was worth it. Felt like we were staying in a smaller hotel, good activities offered 3 x a day by the pool. Good facilities. Great beds, and spacious rooms. The only draw back were the poor evening entertainment, but we didn't go for that anyway. And the fact that nothing opened until 10am - tennis courts, golf, pool bar etc which i felt was a bit late. The all inclusive was what you would expect in terms of food offering, however, the endless ice cream, and slushes were a great bonus for my kids. Plus toasted sandwiches by the pool.

We stayed for 3 nights as a birthday celebration and had a lovely time. We were unable to book the adults only hotel as it was full so settled for the family resort. Our suite was fabulous, huge space with everything you need and more. The beds were very comfortable and great choice of pillows too. The air con wasn’t great, it would definitely be an issue in the summer months though. Our housekeeper Sandra was amazing and always made sure it everything was spot on. We spent a day at the adults pool and started with breakfast (1st day) on arrival at breakfast we were told to take a seat. The staff looked a bit flustered and rushed of their feet. No one explained that coffee, orange juice and eggs had to be ordered. My husband normally does the toast and I get the eggs but when I waited for eggs I wS told they needed to be pre ordered. So my husband ordered eggs from a waiter which never arrived as he forgot. I understand that everyone is settling in but not great for a first impression. The next 2 days we ate breakfast at the marina restaurant above the Japanese restaurant. The first visit we were greeted by lovely staff who brought us coffee and we got our own eggs from the egg station. We are hoping to return in March 23 but would like to stay in the adults area, hopefully the staff will be more settled and the reviews for evening dinner will have improved as most of the reviews so far are not great (food wise) the decking on the walkway between both hotels is an accident waiting to happen with the broken and lose boards. We tried the Japanese restaurant one night and was lovely, we ate back in Fuerteventura next month but staying in the north of the island but might take a trip down to try the Italian restaurant which opens at the end of November. The resort is beautiful with just a few teething issues which will hopefully be addressed through the reviews.

Nice, but nothing particularly Royal about it

Having stayed in many Barcelo Royal levels- this was the least royal by far. We will not be going back. Credit where credit is due- El Ancla restaurant has good quality food, and friendly staff and we enjoyed our meals. Hotel was clean. Entertainment staff were friendly. Pool area was small but nice. We enjoyed having access to the huge resort and also being able to retreat to our royal area. However, our arrival was anything but royal. We were not greeted with a welcome drink. The rooms were not ready (despite being unique Barcelo members) and we were advised we could use the facilities as we wait. However we were not told the accommodation was through a car park and across a road, we were not given a key so could not gain access to the royal level, we felt lost. We found the marina bar, and waited 15mins at table for service, and a further 10 mins once we decided to go to bar. This was the common theme throughout our entire stay . Bar staff were like magicians, very often disappearing! Also, please dont think that you can order a Daiquiri, or some of the other cocktails- Bar staff just say no., can’t do. It’s a very popular drink and became a bit of a laugh for us watching everyone try to get one. When we were called to say our room was ready I was told to take our 4 cases, hand luggage, buggy etc ourselves across the car park and road, up the stairs (no lift) to our room, when I said no, I was informed a porter could be requested but it could be some time, it felt like I was asking for something crazy! If you are AI, you might be told you are entitled to one A laCarte meal. I booked Hanami for my husbands 50th Birthday- we reviewed the menu in the App, found things our boys would eat, and looked forward to it. We turned up, we were given a menu of 4 things, snd that’s what we were entitled too. Extremely disappointing and upsetting. The staff tried to rectify this - but the damage was done and I felt like I had let my hubby down for his birthday. They need to be clearer, or they actually need to give their royal level guests a proper A la Carte meal!! It’s very sad that they don’t. I could go on, but let’s just say we made the most of it, but it is not a Barcelo hotel we will go back to.
