What a wonderful place to spend your holidays. We have been soooo satisfied with everything from the staff, the food, the rooms, the smoothie, milkshakes and drinks in the pool bar, they have also been very helpful with the requests we have had and all with a smile. HIGHLY RECOMMEND from us 😎
High quality throughout - well worth my hard-earned money
For those who can't be bothered reading long reviews, let's start with the very essence of any hotel review: Would I book the hotel again? Answer: Definitely. And it is not about whether I would, it's a question about that I will. That said, no hotel is without improvement potential, and I will try and add some constructive feedback further down. We spent 14 days at La Flora during the period 24 Dec 2021 - 7 Jan 2022. Being a family of two adults and three children aged 15, 13 and 11, we had two rooms in the most recently built part of the hotel complex. This made a short walk of approx 200m necessary to get to the restaurant, beach and main pool but we did not perceive this as a problem. In fact, after a few days we started to really appreciate the room location as there was no disturbance at all from the more central activities offered by the hotel. The rooms were of good size, made to a good standard and well maintained. We had no issues with broken fixtures, painting snags or similar. Wall sockets are UK standard and each socket also had two USB ports for mobile phone charging cables, which made the rooms feel up to date. Other equipment includes a large TV and an unusually large well working fridge, approx 1.4m high. Much appreciated to be able to cool water and drinks in a warm climate. A special mention goes to the ventilation system, which appears to be well made. This was one of very few times I've stayed in a hotel in a tropical climate when there wasn't even the slightest hint of damp smell even in the bathroom. The bathrooms were of good standard and everything worked as expected. The beds and pillows are firm. Whilst I personally prefer a softer bed, I noted to my surprise that I actually managed to sleep well. The daily cleaning of the rooms worked like a charm. All in all, the rooms were good and appreciated by all. All dining is made in the Sire Restaurant located next to the main lobby. It is a good restaurant with a lovely sea view. Breakfast is a large buffet catering for both Asian and International breakfast preferences. We had a half board package with breakfast and dinner, which resulted in us over time becoming a tad tired of the food as the lunch and dinner menu is the same. For this reason, it became highly appreciated by our family that every fourth day or so the dinner was offered in the form of a a buffet. Three special mentions relating to eating and drinking: The Food and Beverage Manager, Mr Say (I think?), was really attentive and made a point out of walking around actively seeking feedback from all guests. The bartender at the main bar, Mr Jane, is a hard working and really nice guy. And last but definitely not least, the New Year's dinner party thrown by the Hotel was really very nice. As a guest you could really tell that the entire management team and staff really made an effort to create something for us. Well done! The main pool, the beach and the deckchair area are all well maintained and pleasant to use. I would however recommend the hotel to do a daily beach sweep for rubbish washing ashore. It's kind of sad when you see a plastic bottle littering on one of the most beautiful beaches on earth. There is a good supply of reasonably priced water sports, including Hobie Cat, Kayak, Wind Surfing, Wave Surfing and Stand Up Paddle Boards. Our family made good use of the Hobie Cat and the Kayaks and had a few hours of nice and fun sailing and kayaking. The beach is in itself worth a comment because a) it is really very nice, and b) on this specific stretch of coast (think 3 km up and down the coast from La Flora), there is NO hotel having a better combination of a proper beach and a proper pool area than La Flora. They have the best location, period full stop. The hotel gym does the job but is not the best I've seen. I was there 8 times in 14 days and managed to get done what I needed to in order not to get out of shape, but it would have been difficult to actually get in shape in this gym, if you see the difference. Available equipment is two running treadmills, two bikes, one crosstrainer, a large Body Solid three station multi-machine (main stations shoulders, chest, back), an approx 18 kg barbell with 150kg of weight plates, a combined bench and barbell rack, a small set of dumbbells 5-30 lbs in steps of 5, an incline bench, a sit-up board and a variety of yoga mats and Thai boxing equipment. In short, it will do for those wanting a general workout or for gym buffs like me who can do a lot with a little. Power Lifters, Olympic Lifters and Crossfitters will find the gym frustrating since there is no lifting platform where you can drop a bar. The hotel spa is good and gives high quality massages and treatments. Our family had a total of 5 massages during our stay and everyone was happy. The hotel cooperates with local tour operator Wow Adaman in relation to excursions. We did the day trip to Similan Islands and highly recommend it. Professionally run tour with a great guide, Arty. Just do it. The general willingness of the staff to provide service is high. To our surprise, the average level of English spoken by an average staff member was a bit lower than we expected. Initially this led to a few situations where we found ourselves guessing whether the person we spoke to actually understood what we asked for. However, as no mistakes were made, we over time came to the conclusion that the staff understand English better than they speak it. As a Thailand tourist during the Covid-19 pandemic, you are required to do a mandatory PCR test on arrival at the airport and a second test on the 5th day after your arrival. La Flora arranged the second test for us with a local hospital and had a staff member take us there and back. Worked like a charm, no complaints, case closed. A popular after dinner activity within our family was to make use of the pool and table tennis tables available at the hotel. Other guests also seemed to like the offering so the hotel should invest a little in maintaining the equipment. More on that below. As alluded to above, I have put together a list of improvements for management to consider before my next visit. Here we go: A: Cheap and quick fixes 1. Give guests a quick information as they arrive at the hotel. At least we did not get any, which meant that some of the nice activities available (e g Thai Boxing lessons) we didn't find out until the last day. 2. The "8" ball is missing from the pool table. Buy a new one or if needed, buy a new set of balls. It is cheap. 3. The table tennis table has sen better days. Given how popular it is, buy a new one once a year so it is not falling apart. Your guests will love you for it. 4. If you have a little more money to spend on the pool table, buy new cues and have a new cloth fitted to the top of the table. The existing cues and cloth are getting too worn. B: Initiatives requiring a little more effort 1. As alluded to above, one gets tired of the food when the lunch and dinner menu is the same every day. My suggestion is to have two or three different menus that are rotated either meal by meal, day by day or week by week so guests get to see something new. And for dinner, consider having buffets more frequently, like every second day or so. It would really be appreciated. C. Long-term initiatives 1. As a non-thai guest, it would be appreciated if the average staff member spoke a bit better English. I understand this is difficult to achieve, but if you find a cost effective way of getting some training done it will pay off over time. I think that's it. Hope you find this review helpful and constructive. I'll finish off by reiterating my opening statement: Will I come back? Definitely.
great all around
big resort, friendly staff. good restaurant. great selection at breakfast but could have more choices. great pool good location right on the beach. nice what looks like renovated rooms with lots of space, good wifi, and nice showers.
Exceptional - just perfect.
We spent 10 days here with our three ‘children’ (18, 16 and 13). Absolutely everything about our stay was first class. From the outstanding breakfast to the pool areas, comfortable well appointed rooms, cleanliness... I have nothing negative to say. Location was amazing - right in the beach, but with a 10 minute walk of countless bars and restaurants, most of which seemed to have just re-opened. Our New Years gala dinner and entertainment was amazing. Watching hundreds of Chinese lanterns on the beach was truly magical. Really don’t want to come home, and would not hesitate in returning. Thank you to all the amazing staff, especially to the barmen in the main pool bar and ladies at the spa - best massage ever.
The best hotel I ever stayed in!
Unbelieveable, but this was really the best hotel experience I had in my life: Beautiful rooms (we stayed in a "La flora room", which was absolutly perfect), great facilities (I loved all the swimming pools plus it´s directly at the sea side), delicious breakast and the staff was just heart warming. So attentive and friendly! We loved them all, especially Patty at the receaption was so helpful, friendly and great! We travelled with our 5 months old baby boy and they all were so friendly and nice to him. We can highly recommend this hotel!
