Nice location

Lähellä kaikkea. Kiva merinäköala. Henkilökunta suht. Ystävällistä. Siivous pelasi huonosti, sai jatkuvasti kinuta wc papereita tai roskien vaihtoa. Lakanat vaihdettiin kun oltiin oltu viikko, kun itse pyydettiin. Alakerran saunat aina kylminä. Pitäisi itse aina laittaa päälle. Huone oli kyllä kiva ja toimivat keittiövehkeet. Tulisin kyllä uudestaan

Design hotelli rannalla

Juuri tyylikkäästi saneerattu hotelli Alvorin rannalla. Suuret erittäin mukavat huoneet, joista näkymät merelle. Mukavat reilunkokoiset sängyt (ei liian kovat) 2kpl 110x210cm. Wc:ssä ei ole bideetä. Suihku epäkäytännöllinen. Vaatteiden säilytys avohyllyillä ja tangossa. Ei kaappeja. Iso parveke. Hotellin aamiainen ansaitsee täydet viisi tähteä. Kaikille kaikkea ja fressiä. Mehut puristettuja jne.

Would I stay here again - possibly

Firstly, not the hotel's issue, that said it would definitely influence my decision about returning, Faro airport! It took over an hour to go through Passport control on arrival and over forty minutes on departure, which delayed the planes departure. It is easily the worst airport I have travelled through in the last twenty years! The hotel: The negatives: Be aware that when it says "steps up to the room", there are approximately fourteen steps at a very steep angle. The hotel, very good, switched our room, no sea view or pool view, but no steps. The air conditioning in the second room turned off automatically after two hours, which, during the night was a tad annoying. If staying half-board, we stayed eleven nights, the menu was identical every night. Probably the best option is to stay bed and breakfast. Lastly, to had to ask to have the tea bag and coffee sachets replaced in the bedroom, which was a first in any hotel where I have stayed. That said, the location is stunning, the staff all friendly and very helpful and welcoming. The pools were good and there were no issues in getting a sun lounger, even later in the day. The food was really good, although limited, unless you went a la carte. Both the rooms we had were airy and spacious.

Excellent holiday but still room for improvement

This was our fourth stay at this hotel and albeit we thoroughly enjoyed the holiday there’s parts of the hotel / facilities that are in need of improving. There are plenty of sunbeds around the pool but they are in need of replacing, they are the same sunbeds from when I first visited 7 or 8 years ago and look tired and past their best. A number are damaged, majority are dirty and are sagging from years of use. The other thing that’s clear is that the rooms are in need of an update, walls have a number of dents and marks on them and the carpet around the bed is marked. On a positive the staff can’t do enough to help you, the breakfast is very good and the hotel is perfectly located. The positives more than outweigh the negatives of the hotel and we will more than likely go again next year but think the negatives I’ve mentioned need looking at for an hotel of premium status

Alvor South beach holiday.

The hotel is in an excellent position on the beach which is accessed via a gate from the pool area - your room key works the gate. It’s about a 20 minute stroll along the boardwalk into Alvor - it’s slightly shorter into town if you go via the road at the front of the hotel. The hotel housekeeping is first class, the rooms are cleaned to a very high standard. The rooms are a good size but the storage is very limited, there are no drawers or wardrobe just a metal racking system with several baskets. The bathroom in our room contained a shower over the bath and it was an ordeal for us oldies to scramble into the bath - but hot water was always plentiful. The pool area is kept spotless and there was plenty of sunbeds available any time of the day. There are also daybeds but these seemed to be always reserved from early morning even though the reception asks to sign that you would not reserve sunbeds. Pool towels are already in you room on check-in and these are exchanged at reception when required. The breakfast was excellent with everything you could want in a hot and cold buffet. Omelettes, fried eggs, poached eggs or boiled eggs are available on request - there was even porridge. All the staff, from reception to waiters at the hotel are very friendly and smiling, nothing ever seems to bother them. The pool bar in the evening was very quiet and shut at 11pm. We were back early one evening from the village and sat for a nightcap. My wife ordered a G&T and I requested a whiskey - they had run out of tonic and the gin came in a plastic glass ( with soda water ) while the whiskey came in a beer glass - the barman said that the guests had taken all the whiskey glasses to there rooms. We had booked half board for 14 nights and the evening meal was waiter service and served in the Sea Deck cafe/restaurant which belongs to the hotel and is on the board walk. We found the menu very limited, if you are not a fish lover forget it. The menu never changed and had 5 fish options or a pork dish. The deserts seemed to be either ice cream or fruit. The ambience of this area was non-existent but If you are a football or rugby fan there is a large screen tv dominating the eating area. We only ate in the Sea Deck for 4 of our 14 nights preferring to eat in several of the excellent restaurants in Alvor.
