Lovely hotel, shame about reservations of sunbeds
We spent a week at Lesante and had a lovely time. The room was clean, if a little small for three people. The extra bed was actually a pull out sofa bed from an armchair and wasn't the most comfortable of beds, even for an eight Yr old. It overlooked the pool, with entertainment in the evening, this went on til about half ten but maybe something to bear in mind if you like peace and quiet. Breakfast was lovely, especially the pancakes and fresh omelette etc but could be quite busy and for the entire week we couldn't get a table outside overlooking the pool. We didn't eat for the rest of the day at the hotel but we did use the pool bar for snacks and cocktails which were excellent and reasonably priced too. However, what we found annoying was every day the sun beds around the main pool were reserved with towels, while this isn't the hotels fault we noticed that the beds were reserved but quite often not used for a lot of the day-obviously some people thought it was acceptable to pop a towel on them and go out for the day! Whilst we liked the hotel we did feel it was rather souless and lacked a certain charm? We hired a car which we found very handy as the hotel is at the far end of the town and we explored the island.... I think if we were visiting again we would try some of the cheaper hotels or villa which looked just as lovely, felt this was expensive for what it was.
A very good luxury hotel
The Lesante Luxury Hotel & Spa is indeed a luxury hotel with excellent facilities, However there are a few small details which cause me to hesitate to award it a full 5 star rating. 4.9 would be fair. These are not complaints; rather they are suggestions which could improve the guest experience. + an effort has been made to render the check in procedure pleasant and welcoming, but it could be streamlined to enable the guest to enter the allocated room more quickly. + the breakfast buffet is very good, but the dinner buffet lacked variety. + the magnificent pool is open from 8am until 8pm but not when it is being maintained. Maintenance should be organised outside opening hours. + either the shower "jacuzzi" or the glass partition needs attention to prevent its use from flooding the bathroom floor. + a bar to hold onto while entering and leaving the bath would improve safety.
Great place to explore the island if you have a vehicle, 15 minutes drive to Zakynthos Town (the distance is only about 7 km!!!) and almost the same driving time to the airport Staff is very friendly and helpful, rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable, breakfast is delicious and varied and the price is very very reasonable for a 5 star hotel.
Hotel fab but some flaws...
We have just stayed here for 10 nights on a half board basis in room 628. Overall this hotel is really good. The hotel is very clean and the food served at breakfast and dinner really is excellent. The restaurant staff are very polite. Upon arrival we were offered an upgrade to a suite with jacuzzi for the first 3 nights which was really lovely and made a wonderful start to our holiday. We purchased the Deluxe Honeymoon Package at 495€. We did feel that it wasn’t worth the money sadly. We didn’t get offered any glass champagne on arrival as promised with the package and instead we were offered juice. Some guests walking in after us were offered ‘Champagne’. The bottle of ‘Champagne’ for the room wasn’t even champagne. It was cheap sparkling wine sold at the shop across the road for 3.95€. Huge disappointment. ‘Fresh flowers daily’ were changed only a few times during our 10 day stay. Again disappointing Thirdly - the A la Carte meal which was part of the package was a set menu consisting of the choice of only One starter, 2 mains (chicken or Salmon) and 2 deserts (ice cream or fruit tart). It would’ve been nice to have been able to choose from the main menu. The set menu was limited and disappointing overall. We did take this up with the Neptune Restaurant at the hotel only to be told this was the only menu for us. The only items on the package we enjoyed were the couples massage and the airport transfer via Range Rover. We booked a trip through the hotel concierge (‘Zante Limo’ was the tour company). It was a trip by a very uncomfortable, poorly air conditioned bus to an olive farm (20min stop to sell you products), then a viewpoint, then a 3 hour boat trip to the blue caves and the shipwreck. Lunch was not included. This was fine and we booked the trip at 65€ per person. Sadly the boat was tiny and held only 10-15 people max. No cover from the sun compared to all other boats and upon arrival at the port we were told that we were not going to make the shipwreck and instead after the caves we would be returned to port to spend an hour on the beach next to the port. The stop off for lunch/dinner was at a run down traditional green restaurant, with basic food and toilets that had soaking wet floors, foul smell and no toilet seats on any of the toilets l. I requested a refund for 1 of the tickets for this trip which the hotel concierge handled very well. She really is a lovely girl. If you are looking to book a trip I really suggest going to ‘My Tours’ reps In Tsivili. There are many dotted around the town. Much cheaper, bigger and more comfortable boats offering a boat trip in a very large well equipped boat with snack bar which takes you around the island if Zante with various stop-offs for a fraction of the cost at 15€pp and pick up point is right outside the hotel at the shop. Perhaps the hotel may want to consider switching companies for their tours? ‘My Tours’ was really excellent!! At the end of our stay at the hotel we did notice that we had a total of 4 separate ‘Mini-bar’ charges on our bill to our room. I took this up with reception as we haven’t taken anything from our mini bar at all as we either buy from the shop outside the hotel or at the main bars within the hotel. Denise on Reception had these unknown ‘charges’ removed. Happened twice and a bit concerning that receptionist seemed reluctant to investigate further. Once is a mistake; twice is questionable. I did request to speak to the hotel manager but I was told “the charges have been credited as a discount so no need to take things further”. Denise on the reception was I felt sometimes moody and slightly fed up at me querying the additional charges and made me feel like I was at fault. You only notice any additional charges after you pay and receive your receipt. I think this should be offered before payment so that the guests can check over and dispute any wrong charges before payment is processed. Overall the hotel is smashing but the above flaws did put a damper on our stay.
Very happy holiday at the lesante
We have just returned from The Lesante 3 days ago & throughly enjoyed our stay here! We had a deluxe family room with pool view which was a very comfortable spacious room for myself, husband & 3 daughters, bed’s were comfortable, showers hot and working well, the cleaners kept our room spotless throughout our stay, one downside of the rooms is we kept having to phone down to reception to have our tea & coffee facilities refilled not on really especially when the lady on reception made it feel like it’s your fault . Whilst on the subject of reception one particular lady was very unwelcoming and made you feel like a pain for anything you asked for I suggest management look into this employee unfortunately I never got her name she had dark hair (not the lady whom always had it tied back) . Some employees whom are a credit to this hotel are Fulop & Alex at the pool bar excellent service always nothing ever to much trouble these employees are priceless . Also Pedros what a lovely man he is (he may be some sort of manager)!again nothing to much trouble always remembering our names especially our daughter “Marni”. If you get a chance please dine at the Neptune restaurant the food is amazing we ate here 3 nights out of our 7. I enjoyed a lovely massage at the spa & would highly recommend there services . We never had any trouble getting sun beds something that is a pet hate of mine having to be up at the crack of dawn to reserve. Breakfast buffet is great huge selection with freshly cooked crepes & omelette in front of you. I would return to this hotel again and would also recommend it just a few finishing touches to make is superb but in all a great weeks holiday at a lovely hotel.
