Very nice place to visit for holiday. The hotel is excellent and we have very good and enjoyable time all of us. The only problem with the hotel is the non existent disabled parking at the massive car parking.
Wonderful Hotel - Great Location
Not so much just a hotel but a beautiful resort complex with excellent facilities and staff that are dedicated to ensuring you have a great holiday. We spend 10 days in a sea-front bungalow on a bed and breakfast basis and our experience far exceeded our expectations. On arriving around 10pm after the restaurant had stopped serving, we were immediately provided with club sandwiches and drinks which was really appreciated. Our room was spacious and had a veranda directly overlooking the beach and was also very quiet with extremely comfortable beds. The selection of breakfast options was mind-blowing – so much choice of very high quality food and also, if you were going out for the day, the opportunity to make up sandwiches etc. to take with you. The complex itself not only has a beautiful beach but also three great swimming pools, one of which is for adults only which was most welcome. The resort is so well laid out that it never feels crowded or even that busy, and there is no need to get up early to reserve sun-bed as there are more than enough to go round. The staff work incredibly hard and are always cheerful and engaging. Everyone from the cleaners and waitresses to the bar and reception staff were a credit to the hotel in making our stay exceptional. If there are things you need, just ask – being English, naturally we needed a kettle for our room, which was immediately provided! Most evenings we took a 20 minute walk into the local fishing village, Sisi, to eat and found some excellent tavernas with great local food. A taxi from the hotel into Sisi is 6 Euros each way and takes about 5 minutes. On the other hand, the hotel also provides an excellent evening buffet as well as ‘a la carte’ options and Greek-themed nights, hog roasts etc. We were also blessed with the weather which, in mid-October, was still 26 degrees and very sunny. The only thing we would probably do differently next time is hire a car for a couple of days to take in some of the rich Cretan history and maybe visit a few of the other beautiful beaches around the island. Sisi has many car-hire providers to choose from. So overall our experience of Kalimera Kriti was superb, made more so by the kindness of the staff working there, and we would have no hesitation in returning.
a friendly welcome at the hotel. Cases loaded on to golf buggy and you are driven to your room. That’s the easy part. The hotel is built Leto resemble a Greek village. I managed to find my way back to reception where you can request a cold plate of food and then to the outside bar but finding my way back to the room was a challenge. Once you see the layout in the day you soon get the hang of it. It was a good talking point! The hotel is spotlessly clean I had a downstairs room in a two story building consisting of four rooms. It had a bath/shower, toiletries were provided. Plenty of wardrobe space, and two single beds on which were on a raised level along with some seating and TV. Only Chanel for The English was BBC world news. I had French doors onto a terrace which had two chairs and a table but this overlooked another building so didn’t get used. A fridge was provided with two small bottles of water along with a kettle. A cup and some tea bags appeared the next day. No coffee! Some tins of cream or milk appeared a couple of days later. You need to take your own coffee if you need a coffee. This is where little things creep in that in my opinion effect the 5 star rating of this place. One of the others is you have to keep hold of a beach towel or go to spa to replace it. And don’t forget to hand your card back or you may be charged €20! The restaurant is large and plenty of room to move between food stations. Some food not as hot as I would like it such as pizzas and cold poached eggs. The food was being cooked there and then in places and it was fine if straight of the griddle. There were no hand sanitisers to be seen. One plus point were the desserts they were mainly small sizes and delicious. All in all it is lovely place to holiday and I went for tennis. The courts were superb although Astro which is not my favourite surface . I did also attend the Spa You get offered a free 15 min massage which has to be used within two days. This is really a way of getting you into spa to upsell a treatment which they are very good at. They couldn’t fit me in for a free massage at a time I could make but they could sell me a €125 facial! I was led to believe this was going to be a luxury relaxing 70minute facial. What I got was definitely not! It was very disappointing and not as the receptionist described. Now you pay in advance.. I’ve learned my lesson. Despite complaining at the time and being offered a separate massage to make up for one I didn’t have I left feeling really annoyed and definitely not relaxed. The second point about the spa is the changing room. Anyone can just walk in there is no privacy to take a shower. People walk in to walk through to find the loos. there is no hairdryer to use if you wash your hair. This is supposed to be a luxury spa in a 5star hotel! I had a fabulous tennis holiday here but was left Disappointed due to the spa issue. Not sure I’ll return.
Very pleasant stay with opportunity for improvement
A well maintained hotel and extensive resort with plenty of space to relax and join in with activities if wanted. Good sized room (bungalow) and comfortable bedding. Staff friendly, polite and worked hard to minimise disruption to evening meal when torrential rain shower occurred. Guest expectations and experience could be improved if more information on the resort was available in a room welcome pack as it was a surprise to find out that decaf coffee was rated as a premium drink and carried an extra charge when it was asked for at breakfast. Also, we stumbled upon a small library which hitherto was unknown. Navigating the restaurant was a bit of a challenge as some of the dishes you would have expected to be together were at opposite ends and for some unknown reason there was no central point to find cutlery other desert spoons. Evening entertainment was good but after 3 nights of 'samey' live music during a 7 night stay, it would have been more enjoyable if a wider genre was on offer. The location of the resort makes for a good fishing ground for local taxi drivers who charge a prince's ransom for the short journey to Sissi (but then they do have a fleet of Mercs to maintain). All minor points that hopefully will be taken on board by the management but which did not detract from an enjoyable stay.
Very nice hotel for family vacation
Wonderful location near the sea, the meals for breakfast and dinner is the excellent choice of traditional Greek and international cousine. Despite a lot of families with children, it’s a very quiet and relaxing place.
