My husband I stayed there for a week and have been blown away by the resort and the quality of the staff. We are both hoteliers and know our way around properties and service. Prior to our arrival, I contacted the hotel several times to organize our holiday as we were celebrating a special occasion. Every single email was answered promptly and the consideration was much appreciated. Our room was perfect with a stunning ocean view as booked and in a quiet area as requested. Our celebration was made extra special and we enjoyed it thoroughly. We had several treatments at the spa and the therapists were extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. The property, despite being quite big, was spotless and the accommodations spread out in such a way that it never felt busy. It was very nice stay and we will certainly go back with our kids. They’ll surely have a ball! Thank you very much Ikaros for the great hospitality and very memorable time.
Great Hotel to stay at.
We really enjoyed our stay here at the hotel.I agree with most of the points the last reviewer made. It is a Hotel we would consider visiting again.I would loved to have given 5 stars, but because of the following points i could not this time around. We only had a choice of 3 restaurant's, not 4,No water left in room on the Thursday or Friday, lost English tv channels on the Friday. Maria from the Aura Spa really made us feel welcome. What a lovely lady. Had a Cretan massage, which was nice, but as the last reviewer mentioned, i felt was a bit expensive. Maybe if the prices were dropped a little a few more people would visit it.The service was great in the bars as you get served at your table.I also had Pina Colada's, but it did not come with coconut or a cherry. Maybe on check out day at mid-day arrangements could be made for people to be able to use the facilities for a small extra charge, has we were not picked up until 20.30 in the evening. Please don't take this as a bad review, as i have not intended it to be, as we both had a wonderful time here, but i just wanted to give some feedback on the issues mentioned.
Stunning position, a real treat.
We visited in October and were not disappointed even though it was nearing the end of the season. The room was spacious and spotless. The staff were attentive and friendly and the food was superb. We enjoyed trying each of the four restaurants in addition to the main restaurant which never disappointed as each night was themed. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and the views were superb. The hotel is situated right on the beach from where we were able to pick up coastal walks.
What a place, A total gem!
What a place!!!, all the other reviews will point out the obvious 5 star attributes that this great place has so I’ll try to fill in the bits that make this hotel stand above most normal 5* hotels. 1 Cleanliness. the place is spotless every light bulb is working (a major bug bear for me if this is not the case) the house keeping staff are polite and thorough, we had towel/plant art with welcome note on arrival and on our last day, a lovely touch 2.Design. the hotel is totally unique, every room is a different shape/configuration (no hen cages) everything was beautify done the stonework around the place is brilliant, something i found amazing was that you don’t see any air conditioning condensers or industrial equipment on show anywhere it’s all hidden away so you can appreciate the beauty of the place, the well-kept gardens/lawns are beautiful and attract the local birds making it a feel like a little bit of paradise, i love the way the place is laid out, you could take 5 different routes to any location on the resort each one unique and beautiful, every view from every angle is photo worthy, in our view the reality outshone the youtube the marketing video. 3.bars/restaurants. ok so we all like a cocktail or two when on holiday and Ikaros does not disappoint every drink is served in a unique glass dependant on the cocktail type and the cocktail are not thrown together, example we had a classic pina collada this was made with crushed ice slice of pineapple cherry on top with scattered coconut shavings served in a lovely glass just beautifully made, all drinks are served on a place mat and with a bowl of nuts or crisps and you are always politely served by your bar staff/waiter. the restaurants are all unique offering high end cuisine from around the world and lovely wines. the main restaurant was also brilliant every night a different theme plenty of choice and the local breads and Greek salads are just to die for. 4. location. it’s perfectly positioned just a short walk down the beach and you are in the vibrant town of Maila, or a few euro in a cab will get you there. lots of beachfront bars etc, but i recommend you go out the front of the hotel and turn right and walk down the road there is about 5 miles of shops bars restaurants and car/bike hire places to enjoy. really vibrant and no hard sell from the locals, in fact the y are among the most polite people i have ever met. 5. beach. sea tempreatues are good later in the year the hotal is on a small peninsular and there is really good snorkelling, the "secret becah" below the kids pool is a really nice place lots of stones but lovely none the less. in conclusion just book it!, i recommend to go all inclusive. a lot of the reviews will tell you to get a room with a sea view, we were up near the spa and we loved the walk down to the bars seafront so i wouldn’t be too bothered about where your room is it will be lovely. Advise for the hotel: it’s hard to give suggestions as this place is already so good, but i know that the managers read reviews and try to improve where possible so ill try and make some. 1. Maybe occasionally offer drinks around the pools, the main pool and relax pool (you can get drinks at the kids pool) however the main bar is not far from the main pool. 2. Check out, your all-inclusive will stop at 12:00 on day of check out. ive been to a lot of hotels in my time and we usually take an evening flight home to get as much time in the hotel/destination as possible, most hotels will understandably ask you to vacate your room, but they will let you continue to use your all-inclusive privileges until you physically leave the hotel (maybe a small charge sometimes) but i think this would be a nice courtesy if the hotel allowed this. Especially if you arrive late on day of arrival. 3. Not the hotels issue as the spa is separate, but whilst we were there we made use of the spa (a first for me) whilst the treatments were absolutely great they were very pricey, a shame as I think this put a lot of people off, its an excellent facility and could be utilised better if it was a bit more competitive on price (thanks for the free 15 min massage though :) See you again Ikaros! I’m defiantly coming back!!
What a gem...
Well I sit here on the terrace of our room on the morning of our return to the UK and can safely say that this resort is quite special. Having been here just a week I find myself wishing it was longer and wondering when we can come back. We arrived last Friday to find we had been upgraded to a bungalow lovely but right by the entrance road so I asked if we could be moved... It meant a normal room but to be honest I actually preferred it... We were offered a choice of two which was nice... The reception staff and luggage man where happy to accommodate... This resort is lovely for lots of reasons but the staff are exceptional... No one could do enough for us... They are a real credit to the hotel and despite our being only a week before they shut for the end of the season no one seemed like anything was too much trouble. We had free 15 minute massages booked with our package and were convinced to try the full Cretan massage as well... Wow that's an experience.... The Aura spa is beautiful a serene oasis... The Cretan massage "hard" I felt like I had been hit by a bus the next day but in a good way if that makes sense!! However please note the prices are not listed in the brochure and 140 euros each was probably a little on the steep side... I pay less than that for bespoke treatments in London! Now the practical bits... Food... High quality and varied and despite being all inclusive, so eating most of our meals in the main restaurant it only felt like a canteen on a couple of occasions when it was very busy... Incredible choice and lots of fresh made to order options for those of you who like me can be a little cynical about mass catering Just to note although our stay included eating in the a la carte restaurants we could only get bookings for 2 nights so were a little disappointed... Tbh the 2 bookings we got were OK but not overly different from the all inclusive food. Do however pay extra for the Greek night on a Friday... Great fun and plate smashing had by one and all... I can not however leave this review without mentioning the yoga... Free every day a fabulous way to start a day with a slow yoga practice on the terrace of the Spa over looking the Cretan see. This resort is what it says a resort a retreat from the main world and a fabulous place to relax and recuperate... Comfy beds... Amazing staff... good food... Stunning backdrop and a real find.... We will definitely be back... 🔜🔜🔜
