Very luxury hotel, we had a room with a large terras. We tried all 5 restaurants in the complex. They were all very good, except the greek one. The winelist is oke, if you limit yourself to Greek wines. Non greek wines are extremely expensive.
WOW 5 STAR IN EVERY WAY
We stayed for a short break in October. Could not find fault at all. So much choice at breakfast, even had a little glass of fizz. Worth going half board, the restaurants are excellent . All staff are friendly and helpful. Easy to walk into Elounda, take a golf buggy to the entrance at the Bay hotel and its a 10 minute walk from there. Great weather for low season, well worth it. Thank you
Amazing resort - 5 star in all respects
We have had a wonderful few days at the Elounda Beach Resort, it is beautifully located on calm turquoise waters, and is set in lovely gardens with colourful flowers everywhere. We haven't even tried the beach yet, as our Waterside Suite has direct access to the sea, a semi-private stone deck, and reserved sunbeds. It's quiet and calm. The main pool has a very calm air, the pool is heated, and there's a lovely pool bar and restaurant where we have enjoyed lunch. Super friendly staff speak excellent English. The gym is clean and well stocked, the beach is clean and well maintained, and each sun bed has a little button to press if you'd like service from the beach bar and restaurant. The sea is so clean and clear, with fish throughout, while the little pathways make enjoyable strolling and jogging. In the evening, there's a square with its own lovely chapel, with 2 restaurants, and just a short hop away another restaurant set high over the water. The bar on the jetty looks popular and is lit up at night to good effect. Breakfast is an amazing choice of food and drinks, served with smiles. The staff are incredibly hard working and seem very happy to have us all here, and happy in their work - true professionals. The town of Elounda is a mile flat walk away, where you can shop and eat and take a mini train or boats if you wish. But we are happy to stay in the resort mostly, as it's a very special place.
Total relaxation gazing the deep blue sea
We really enjoyed our holiday this September/October at the Elounda Beach Hotel. The hotel management completely respected our wishes to have piece and quiet during our holiday which greatly enhanced our experience. The hotel has a unique position and it is possible to enjoy the beautiful sea with privacy which is something very rare to find. The room they gave us was just beautiful - very nice modern furniture, lots of gadgets and huge bathroom with sunken bath tab so that you can enjoy your bath while gazing at the sea! Thank you Elounda Beach for the experience you gave us - we will certainly be returning!
A great two weeks.. (read more for tips, pointers etc)
We had a great two weeks in September here. We were treated really well and had a great time in this huge and beautiful resort. We will definitely be back. It is old fashioned (built in early 70s) so do not expect it to be modern looking and sleek. But this makes it very cosy and welcoming. Breakfast is the most extensive I have seen but can be very hectic. A few times our plates were cleared away before we were finished. Arrive early to get a good spot and do check out Stella doing a great job on the omelette station. Faster hands you will not see! Almost all staff go above and beyond the call of duty. The guy on the beach doing the sun loungers was incredible and wireless devices so you can order snacks and drinks directly from the sun loungers is a great idea. There was a 'sommelier' who upsold me a pretty bad Cab-sav despite my protests and seemed very nervous and spilt that wine and several other bottles (water and wine) during our stay. Our spa treatments were very good. Tips for travellers..... DO.... Explore. Play crazy golf aka mini golf. Go half-board. This is essential unless you plan to eat in Elounda every night as the non-half board prices for dinner and lunch are very expensive. Visit Plaka (its only a short taxi ride away) (eat at the carob tree)Visit the evening restaurant at elounda bay palace (Thalassa) as it has arguably the best view of any of the restaurants across both resorts (elounda beach and elounda bay palace are twinned hotels and you can eat at bay palace if you have a half board deal). Eat at the blue lagoon as often as possible. It has the most variety and IMO was the best restaurant. It will also give you some respite from the singing (more of that later). Look out for asian hornets they are massive and orange and if you are near their nest can be very nasty (Think there may have been a nest between the Elounda bay palace water sports area and the fitness class studio). Try and have lunch at Kanali when its not too windy. Have a drink at the Lito lounge with the lovely Eleni. Have a sundowner at Verghera (better than late at night when it can be dark and cold). Have a game of table tennis/darts etc with Claudio. Visit the spa to see the amazing views from the spa building (great panorama). Go snorkelling (I saw some amazing fish inc. needle fish) DON'T.... Walk out of the hotel along the road to Elounda. Walk within the grounds or get a golf cart to the bay palace entrance. This is a MASSIVE shortcut. Go to the pharmacy in the main square it is very expensive. Visit the one nearer the hotel on the main street instead. Have dinner at the Italian restaurant (Arganaut) until it is improved. Go for lunch instead one day. The staff here tended to be the least interested and enthusiastic and the food needs improving (more on that later) Tips for management..... Please get a really good wood fire pizza oven in Argonaut. It would really improve the place. Please please please rotate the singer in the Dionysus restaurant (audible at Kafenion). Apart from Greek night (every tuesday) it was the same singer singing the same songs every night. It must get as boring for her as it did for us. She was great but variety would be better. A rowing machine and a cross trainer in the gym would be great as well please! Last word thanks to everyone who made it great inc Eleni, Claudio and Stella and the management for the upgrade. See you again soon!
