Kos Psalidasi, Aegean view Aqua resort
Ihana hotelli vuorella, kaunis näköala, hyvä ruoka, siivous kunnossa, henkilökunta ystävällistä, ilmainen kuljetus Kosin keskustaan ja takaisin ja mahtavat uima-altaat liukumäkineen + päivittäin aktiviteettejä.
Mukava loma Kossilla
Could be so much better
We are a family of 4 (2 Adults 2 Kids) just back from 2 weeks all inclusive at Aegean View Aqua Resort. Transfers were approximately 1 hour (last drop off / first pick up) The hotel is occupied by approx 75% Dutch, 20% British and 5% other. I have to say I found many of the Dutch guests to be rude and arrogant. The reception staff in the main spoke to you like you were an inconvenience. Anything you asked appeared too much trouble. The Hotel buildings and grounds are well kept and pretty clean. Our room was a 2 bed apartment and was very dated. Water leaked from under the bath every time you had a shower, soaking the bathroom floor. The rooms were cleaned daily but not very well tbh. The air-con worked well but could not be put on when you were not in the room. If you had a second key to put the air-con on whilst you were out (to cool the room down before your return) they would send the cleaners in to check and if you were found to be 'abusing the system' you would be fined 50 Euros! The Food - 3 restaurants The Main restaurant is by far the largest and gets very busy at Dinner (less so at Breakfast and Lunch) and there is quite a decent variety of food both local and international. All the usual stuff for the kids too (Bolognese, chips, nuggets, fish fingers etc). However, even if you were in there as soon as it opened the food was very rarely hot and often barely warm. Unlike the room itself which was boiling because the hotel refused to put the large air-con units on due to them tripping the power - (more about that later) The Seafood Restaurant food was much smaller, the food was good and generally hot but it was the same every night. Eating in the outside part was a problem because of the wasps! The Taverna Restaurant was a five minute walk from reception and was mainly meats. The food was good but the place was again constantly plagued by wasps. The Seafood & Taverna restaurants required booking 24 hours prior but even then they often didn't have our room number on the list! There are small private pools dotted around the resort and 2 large pools. The Main pool is a good shape and has deep and shallow parts. Tiles around the edge are non slip. The 'water Park' pool has slides, a floating obstacle course and a floating trampoline. However the water was so heavily chlorined that it send all light coloured swimwear a shade of yellow/green! The daytime activities were the same every single day; Yoga, Darts, Water Polo, Volleyball, Aqua Gym. The evening entertainment was probably the worst I have ever seen! It was mainly at the Pool bar area but often at the amphitheatre. OMG, they call it an amphitheatre but it is a stage with a rounded front edge and rows and rows of white plastic seating situated a ten minute walk away from the main hotel. The Pool bar staff worked hard and were without doubt the nicest staff at the hotel. Unfortunately the pool bar is the only bar and they only have two staff serving which means a semi permanent queue in the evenings. The glasses / plastic cups for drinks are small but we were given some half pint plastic cups by another guest that the bar staff were happy to fill.Beer was Ok and there was a decent array of local spirits and cocktails included (although no Dark/Spiced Rum) The hotel suffered with continual power cuts (10 - 20 per day!) Some for just a second or two but some were for up to 15 minutes. Mainly in the early evening which is a problem when getting ready for dinner. We paid for a late check out but had to pack up and move to a different room on the last day for this (30 Euros to keep the room till 6pm) The room we moved to was a newly refurbed one and was very nice. Definitely not a 4* hotel (It might have been 10 years ago) but appears to be owned and run by a family that have been doing things their way for a long time. we had a decent holiday but it could and should have been so much more. We ensured we had a decent holiday but would definitely not go back
Not sure why the bad reviews
Just spent 7 nights here as a family of 4. Not sure why some recent reviews have slated this place but i found it to be a good holiday. Food was plentiful, yeah a bit samey every day but if you like different things plenty of options to keep you satisfied. The greek restaurant was very nice. The waterpark was good fun, enough to keep kids entertained and having smaller pools dotted around close to the accommodation was a bonus for the afternoons. The free shuttle bus into kos town was good, a nice opportunity to see something different as the hotel itself is in the middle of nowhere. Staff are friendly and smiling even though most seem overworked. If you except 5 star luxury and service as some people seem to want then go somewhere else but for that you need to expect to pay £4000 for a family of 4 for a week if you are happy to go with the flow, pay £2500 for a week during school holidays and have an amazing view of kos town and across to Turkey then this is the place for you.
