Reception team needs work
At first we loved this hotel, the room had an amazing view, could always get a sun bed without having to get up early. Good choices if food, drinks very limited, wouldn’t hurt to have the Cava included rather than the cheap sparkling wine as other hotels that cost a lot less have this included. The main problem they have at this hotel is The Level option, unfortunately we had to book very last minute and wasn’t given the option to book this and didn’t know it resisted. It basically really separates everyone and makes you feel like your missing out on the good stuff which no one wants to feel on holiday! As such we wanted to try the level and was told by the reception team we could get the full experience by just paying on the door for breakfast and dinner so we did this. Breakfast was really good and I enjoyed it so much I would have paid the 20 euros again. Dinner not so much, we now know after being ignored when we tried to order drinks that level drinks are not included and we were told in quite a rude way by the waiter we were not level guests so didn’t get the same privileges, fair enough but would have been nice to know before I forked our the 40 euros to just eat the same food they had in the buffet restaurant. Also to note I could of paid for a day as a level guest at the same cost and had the drinks also. We complained straight away to reception and basically all we got was a sorry. The other issue was the air con, it doesn’t work, again spoke to reception and the response was that the air con system only goes to a certain level of cool and it is what it is! Asked for a fan as we got fed up with little sleep as a very warm room but they didn’t have one. Basically the reception team are not very helpful or accommodating and it let’s the hotel down as there is so much that is great about this hotel and the location is stunning. A real shame, if these 2 issues had been dealt with we would have looked to return as level guests!
Beautiful location but average hotel
We stayed at the Melia for a week on an all inclusive basis in a room with a panoramic sea view. We choose this hotel as it was part of the Jet 2 Luxe collection however as we weren’t Level customers we only had access to 1 all inclusive buffet restaurant not the 2 as described on the Jet2holidays website. The view from the room was lovely but the room was tired. We were on the 8th floor in room 821. As previous reviews mention there’s not enough lifts really so unless you’re prepared to spend a lot of time waiting for lifts you’ll climb plenty of stairs. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained with plenty of sun loungers. The beach towel deposits are €20 per towel with a charge of €1 each time you’d like it changed. If you visit the beach outside the hotel it’s €4 to a hire a sun lounger. The hotel is very remote. It costs €7 each way to visit the next small town of Costa Calma. There’s a twice weekly complimentary bus to visit Morro Jable and there’s a free daily bus for the Oasis Wildlife Park. The drinks are pretty decent but the all inclusive buffet food is pretty bland and is a real disappointment. The food is not en par with other 4 star all inclusives we’ve stayed at and having access to only 1 buffet restaurant for a week makes it feel a little like Groundhog Day. The hotel doesn’t provide any drinking water in the non level rooms so you have to buy water from the hotel mini market if you’d like a drink of water by your bed. There is a wind surfing centre nearby so if you enjoy wind and kite surfing, this maybe an ideal hotel for you. In summary, there were some positives for this hotel however the negatives outweighed then for me and as such I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
Customer annoying music due to non-chilling-music-loop all areas
Even the service people have to suffer under the central provided and always repeating music-loop. It’s provided for the lounge areas and even for the food areas. Special „jazz-patterns“ which may be acceptable for a specific type of guests isn’t appropriate to most of the guests iMoh. The Feedback of Management will be appreciated.
Another Great Holiday
Yet another great holiday at the Gorriones or Mellia Fuertebentura. We stayed in our favourite Level Grand Suite and it was excellent as ever. Tracey and the Level team were as friendly, helpful and efficient as ever. The Oasis restaurant was open again for breakfast and dinner, after a break last winter, and it was as good as ever. Borja continued to serve his excellent omelettes and pancakes in his cheerful way. Victor welcomed us as ever and the restaurant maintained its extensive range of choices and high quality. The room service, championed by the ever-cheerful Yeny, was efficient and unobtrusive. We were even entertained to dinner by the Manager and Assistant Manager. Overall an excellent holiday.
Certain areas of hotel need attention to maintenance. Room also needed maintenance, hotel staff very friendly and the overall cleanliness was good. Pool areas are great and well set out. Food was good with plenty of choices.
