Olimme hotellissa 18 yötä. Henkilökunnan palvelu suorastaan loistavaa ja vilpitöntä. Aamiaisen taso aivan huikea, varmasti löytyy kaikille jotain.
Breakfast excellent with a good choice. Rooms modern and very clean. Well equipped with good toiletries. TV caters more for German speakers which are the majority of the guests. Plenty of sun-loungers, and located right on the beach. Pool bar extremely over priced, but mojitos were lovely! Well equipped gym. The hotel does offer activities published on a board, but if you ask about them, the staff seem confused and then attempt to facilitate. Restaurant good enough, and staff generally pleasant, especially Su at breakfast, but on the whole English skills poor. Not a lot to do in the town, especially if it’s raining.
Very nice stay, wonderful Front Beach Villa
we was 3 couples, we had a front beach Villa and it was very nice. we had all we needed. Breakfast was very rich and served tea and coffee was good too. and we had nice and very tasteful dinner. the last evening, they made a set-menu for us, it was splendid. thanks to all the staff.
Lot of the hotel guests speak German. But most of the staff speaks English and are very friendly. Excellent breakfast with lots of choice. Stayed in a Beach Front Villa. Equipped with empty refrigerator so you can fill with drinks of your choice. Very nice terrace with big sunbeds and 2 (yes two) umbrellas to protect against the sun. Room is very spacious. Has also a Jacuzzi (never used it). And a big closet behind the wall of the bed. Very well isolated. You do not hear any noise from the hotel next door or even from the sea. There is a little sand dune in front of the villa. Not too high, so you can still see the sea from your terrace, but it shields you from curious looks. The other accommodation choices are: a room in a block (ground floor + 2 stories), build in a big circle around the pool and private villa’s with a pool. The ground floors in the blocks have a bigger terrace with sunbed. The upper have only a small balcony with room for 2 chairs and a little table. Personally I do not prefer the private villa’s as you are surrounded with concrete walls, limiting very much your (sea) view. If you book a room in the blocks, ask a room deeper in the garden. There is a bar just across the street playing very loud music during the night. The garden and beach are very well maintained. There are many sun beds at the beach, but close to each other. No problem for towels. If you want more than 1, just ask. The big swimming pool is filled with fresh (not salt), very warm, water. There is a swim-up bar. Happy hour is between 4 and 5pm. It contains a build-in Jacuzzi (left side of the bar). There is also a pool for small children. What I also appreciated very well is that the hotel has a strict policy for smokers. Smoking is not allowed everywhere where food is served. Even at the tables outside. Here you can enjoy your dinner without the smoke of your neighbor spoiling your taste. The beach is also a smoke free zone For nicotine addicts they have a small zone near the restaurant and at a corner at the beach. Personally I would also like to have smoking not allowed at the coffee shop. Here you can have delicious cakes, but the taste gets ruined by the smoke. Very nice is also the weekly welcome cocktail drink organized by the manager. You can have a long walk at the left side of the beach, but you need to take the sea tides into account. At high tide there is some “river” of inflowing water which is not easy to cross. Extra remark for smokers: smoking is even not allowed on any beach in Khao Lak (I have no idea if this is everywhere in Thailand the case) except in designed small areas. Take in to account that there is huge fine or 1 year jail for smoking outside these areas. Vaping is completely forbidden in Thailand. So leave your vaping stick at home, except if you want a free room in jail ;-). The restaurant serves very well presented and excellent food. There is really no need to eat outside. Although outside is (a little) less expensive, the quality is not the same. We have eaten 1 time outside in the town (because my wife wanted to buy a bikini there). She took a tuna steak and myself a steak. Price: 400 and 500 THB respectively. In the Ramadam the same costs 450 and 699 THB. Currently, 50 THB is about 1,50 Euro. So for the extra cost you do not have to eat outside. Note also that a taxi to the town center is 150 THB to go and 150 THB to return. The Ramadam restaurant is much nicer. You have more space at and between the tables, better seating, more quiet, tables nicely dressed, better service, more intimate or romantic as you hear the sea. Most of the time there are also shows or singers during dinner. I can certainly recommend the international BBQ buffet. It is somewhat more expensive (799 THB pp), but it is worth it’s money. Ok, the drinks are less expensive outside. But you can always, after dinner, take a walk to the street (just around the corner). There you can find one restaurant or bar after the other. Plenty of choice to have a drink. It is very pleasant to have a walk at night there with all the lights. Life starts there after 18h. Before, during the day, the streets are pretty much deserted. The local market (3 x week) is also worth a visit. When you want to buy something you need to negotiate. I have the impression that a reduction of 20% keeps everybody happy. We also visited the “Tsunami Memorial”, just across the main street. There is not much to see in the “museum” just after the police boat, but the museum at the right side of the street is worth a visit. You also help the local community with your contribution. We watched there on a TV for more than 30 minutes the images and videos (I have never seen before) of the Tsunami and interviews from survivors and medical staff. Still unbelievable to see and heartbreaking. We have also visited Moo Moo Cabaret. Located on the main road, but still at walking distance from the hotel. The show starts at 21h45 and takes about 1 hour. You need to be there around 21h30. Take first a seat outside and order a drink. As no entrance fee is asked, the drinks costs some more (same as in the hotel) than usual. If not finished, you can take your drink inside or just order another one. At the end of the show you are asked to make a “contribution” in a hat. Nothing is proposed, it is up to you to decide what to give. Do not expect a Crazy Horse or Las Vegas show, but given the location and what you pay for it, there is not much to complain about. We visited also the Lam Ru National Park (10 to 15 minutes by taxi) with the small white sandy beach. You can reach the beach either directly from the main street or by hiking through the park. Be aware that the hike is not easy and not suited for small children or to do with babies. Lampi waterfall is worth a visit. Very nice. Have done some diving with Sea Bees. Can recommend this diving center. Very professional.
