A DECENT PLACE ON THE BEACH
Temple Tree Resort & Spa is a boutique hotel located on soft sandy beach. It is well connected from Colombo and is on the main road. The property has been recently renovated which has improved the ambiance. It is just ten minutes drive from the Bentota Beach. The staff is polite and courteous. One can enjoy the private beach and the place is ideal for rest and recuperation
This is a very handsome place smack on the beach with an awesome pool. Beautiful lobby. Really nice rooms. Excellent a/c. Slightly askew atmosphere. Could do with more staff training all around. The food is nice enough outside of breakfast, which is really nice! The best spot is lying beneath the pandanus trees with the sea in front of you. Problem is they start trying to kick you off your seats during sunset and make it a no go zone, weird. The not calm gentleman got hulkish angry with us and ponged up the evening. There's nowhere else to go apart from to eat. Make hay with your beautiful place.
Awful food and overpriced hotel
We stayed for five nights. Unfortunately we couldn’t cancel the booking. The food in this hotel is massively overpriced and awful. It’s right on the beach and the fish and seafood were revolting. Buffet even worse. They have no idea how to cook. We stayed in other 5 hotels and we always had great Sri Lankan food. The morning juice was cheap cordial (in every other place they had awesome fresh Sri Lankan fruit freshly juiced), and the tea, that should excel in Sri Lanka and that we always found amazing anywhere else, was the cheapest brand you can find everywhere in the world. Lucky there is a restaurant near by where we went to have something edible. Not good enough. Room average, tropical weather and there’s no fly screen so you must close the window and sleep with the aircon on. Not worth the money. It’s a trap for tourists. The sea as well was in the calmest time of the year and it was nearly impossible to swim, there were always massive waves that put everyone off. In Sri Lanka there are plenty of better locations with honest prices.
stay away from this property
this property has a very pathetic entrance to start with. the hotel lobby usually has no one to attend and always ready to argue on the most minute details about your trip. the staff as no manners to speak to guest. It violates your privacy in every stretch of imagination. Pool isnt clean Phone isnt working the toiletry are of some unknown company. Please avoid. by no means its a 5 star property.
Great location, good room, average service
We spent four nights at Temple Tree at the end of our two weeks in Sri Lanka. The room was a good size, with a great balcony overlooking the Indian Ocean. Strange setup with the upper half of the bathroom wall being a window, but not a massive issue! There are two nice swimming pools, both of which are heated by the sun during the day. The beach is quiet and clean, with some good waves to swim in. We ate outside the hotel for dinner (we thought Rs 2000 per person for the buffet was quite expensive). The breakfast buffet was decent, at least on a par with the other hotels we’d stayed at in Sri Lanka. The staff were all friendly and intended to be helpful, but in some respects they needed a little more training. For example, throughout our stay, the tv and internal telephone system was broken - we were told daily that the issues would be fixed the same day, but they never were. This didn’t cause a huge amount of inconvenience, but it was clear that the staff didn’t really know what was going on. It was ironic when a receptionist asked if we needed a wake up call - it wouldn’t be possible! Despite this, we enjoyed our stay, and would recommend for a relaxed ending to a holiday.
