Not as good as it could be!
Stayed here October half term and have taken time to reflect on the holiday. The resort is aiming to be the most luxurious AI in Dubai and may just hold that title by default of there not being too many. We arrived mid to late morning and waited over 15 minutes to even talk to reception for check in, but our room was not ready. Understandable, given the time of the day, so though we would get early lunch for the children but at 11am the only place to get any food for a 2 and 4 year old is the Sports cafe, which is a good 15 minute walk or wait for a buggy to take you over there. We got over there but waited almost half an hour for someone to come and pick us up. We would have walked but with a nice guy from the gold part chasing it up for us, we were told twice it was on its way when it wasn't and was fully clothed from the flight to walk in the heat with kids. Room has everything you need and comfortably slept a family with young children on pull out sofa bed, with a garden terrace which was nice to walk down to the beach. Pools are really good and the food in the restaurants was of a good standard. We went here due to the choice of restaurants, but on trying to book, was advised that we couldn't book the White Orchid as was fully booked other than 9:45pm. Went to the pizza restaurant on the beach front one night and was good quality and the children enjoyed it. Noting how quiet it was we went back another night with no booking and was turned away from an empty restaurant as being fully booked with no booking and told to go to the buffet or Sports Cafe. A 5* Dubai resort would always find a solution. Anyway we walked back past after going to the sports cafe just over an hour later and there were not even 10 tables with people on. AT this point I raised a complaint and I have to say from that point we noticed a distinct improvement of service in all restaurants, so not sure if the room number had a note against it, but was a far nicer more valued clientele experience. I am not sure how the facilities and restaurants will cope with the new hotel opening in peak times as it was remarkably quiet in half term when we were there. Spent every day almost by the pool and great service from an always smiling and helpful bar tenders Lakmal and Sam. Overall we enjoyed the holiday, with the weather and surroundings it is almost impossible not to, but a few tweaks are needed in the resort to improve the overall feel of luxury. In talking to some staff there have been lots of staff changes and some guests had been many times before and said it was very different this time, so hopefully the winning formula will return to a beautiful resort.
Perfect place for relaxation
If you are looking for a week of total relaxation then I really recommend the JA Palm Tree Court. We didn't leave the resort (don't think there is much to do unless you are into shopping...) as there is plenty to do there with access to three hotels and facilities. Clay pigeon shooting was fun and the pistol range. Spa lovely and the water sports people were very accommodating with taking a jetski out as we didn't want it for the full 45 minutes. The main thing for us was the staff, professional, friendly, very good at their job. Special mention to Captain's Bar Staff, the Shisha guy there and Bongani in the Republik bar/restaurant. Food was surprisingly good, especially the White Orchard Restaurant and Republik. Only restaurant we weren't sure about was the Indian. Not the quality of food or the staff but we didn't like the menu. Would recommend going all inclusive with pretty much everything included, bit of a no brainer! Not sure I would go back to Dubai but would definitely consider another JA resort. Room was also great, large and nice balcony.
We visited here in November as a family with my wife, daughter, son-n-law and grandson. On arrival we were immediately upgraded to sea view rooms so a really positive start. We were all inclusive which we were glad about as the food and drink were very expensive. The staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful and they made so much of Arthur our grandson. Everywhere we ate was so good. The buffet food was excellent with a huge choice. Of the themed restaurants White Orchid was our favourite. Asian food to the highest quality I could have easily gone through the menu. Shooters the steak restaurant was very nice too but you have to get the shuttle bus (free) or a taxi as it’s away from the complex. The hotel runs a free shuttle bus service into Dubai city centre and it’s about an hour away. You have the best of both worlds, a number of pools to choose from and the sea literally yards away with golden sand and water as warm as a bath. Watch out for the many peacocks, very tame but can be annoying! Highly recommended.
Sort out if you are serious about being an Luxury AI resort. Other than that fantastic resort with exceptional staff. Definitely would return. Resort slightly out of town however if you have been to Dubai and do not wish to revisit the sights the location is fine.
Fabulous stay very friendly and welcoming staff, all inclusive package, great choice of restaurants, food amazing. Divaz and white orchid was our favourite, captains bar for lunch lovely as were all the staff. Just perfect will definitely be back.
