Todella rauhallinen paikka!
We had a superb time on Tilos again this week. Rooms are first class and this lovely Family Run Hotel is stunning. The use of the Beach at the families other property, Ilidi Rock, as well the Breakfast and Swimming Pool are an added bonus. Wonderfully clean rooms in an ideal location and we would have no hesitation in recommending a stay here when visiting Tilos
So Greek and Peaceful
My husband and I stayed at The Irini Hotel for 2 weeks in September 2019. We paid extra to have an upstairs pool view room which we were delighted with. The balcony was huge, furnished and had a washing line with pegs at the far end. Being balcony people this was ideal and we spent many happy hours on it. Watching the sunrise whilst sipping our morning coffee was amazing. The room was very clean and bright, cleaned daily and towels and bedding frequently changed. Our hosts had thought of everything. We had twin beds, full size fridge with freezer section for ice, iron and ironing board, safe, coffee and tea making items, a mozzie machine, lantern to use on the balcony at night, tv, hand soap and shower gel! This is so much more than we have had in 4 star hotels. The Irini is graded as a 2 star but it deserves so much more. The whole hotel is light and airy and very Greek which we loved. On reception you could find extra tea, coffee, sugar etc along with night lights for your lantern. So thoughtful and no extra charge. For breakfast there was no choice but something for everyone from eggs, bacon, cheese, meat, fresh bread, doughnuts or other pastries from the local bakery, fresh juice, olives and huge bowls of fruit. Coffee and tea were also served. The outside gardens were kept to a high standard as was the pool. Plenty of beds, loungers and deck chairs with no one rushing to reserve any at the crack of dawn. Livadia village was a stones throw from The Irini and all on the flat for walking. There are some lovely little shops and bars where you were always welcomed. All the tavernas serve delicious local Greek food, wine and ouzo along with all the other usual drinks. The beach is long and stony with lots of sun loungers available. As long as you bought drinks or lunch in the taverna behind they did not charge 😄. Lovely long walk along the promenade or you could hire bikes. You could also catch the ferry to Nisyros the next island on which is 45 minutes away and very different to Tilos. We did it twice, visited the live volcano there on one of the trips. We loved our time at The Irini and would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in a proper little Greek Hotel on a wonderfully unspoilt, peaceful Greek Island. We would recommend you stay in Livadia but get out and about on the local bus or use the one taxi on the island as we did. There are some amazing walks and wildlife. It you are late birds go to the nightclub, which is on the hill out of town, and sit under the stars or dance until dawn. Tilos has something for everyone 💙🇬🇷
Very much recommended
Have just spent 2 weeks at this hotel, and I totally recommend it. Very clean. Nice pool, with all different types of sunbeds, deckchairs, beds, and seating, very clean. Breakfast not wonderful (A little too repetitive), but this isn't really a negative as it was perfectly pleasant, it would cost you at least €20 each if you had to pay for it, and you really didn't need lunch afterwards. More bedroom furniture than most Greek hotels, a nice big fridge (which they really didn't need to provide seeing as it was not a self-catering premises), and flat screen t.v. Sheets etc changed with very good frequency. Wifi wouldn't reach to our room, but was perfect in the public areas. Soap and shampoo in the rooms, which again is a cut above a lot of other Greek accommodation. One thing we found a little strange is that there was no bar. But of course you could keep your own supermarket drink in your fridge... In summary, recommended.
The Hotel Irini has always been wonderful but now boasts an additional attraction in the person of Tania, who is at the reception desk every evening. You know when she has arrived because the place is filled with laughter. Born in the Ukraine, Tania is now a Tilos resident fluent in several languages, charms everyone she meets, and is only too happy to coach visitors in the basic Greek phrases which are so much appreciated by the locals. Thank you Tania!
