1. In my opinion what makes the Santo Miramare Resort so special is the staff. All are friendly, efficient, engaging and informative. Alina, Dora,Edmond, Leza, Orestis, Theofilous, Yannis to name but a few. All the staff are a credit to the hotel and company. 2. About 40 minutes transfer from airport ( after other drop offs) 3. Hotel and grounds are beautifully set out. Three pools and a jacuzzi. Sufficient sun beds, not overcrowded. ( note - the sun beds have wheels one end which prevents everyone’s teeth being set on edge from the scraping noise when moving them ) You can grab a free fresh towel from Reception each morning ( and then there is a Euro3 room tax payable at end of your stay) 4. Our air-conditioned room had a sea view and yes it did ! Exit the hotel grounds, cross a road and you are on the beach where the hotel has its own sun beds. It is worth getting up one morning at 5am to go and sit on the beach sun beds and watch the sunrise and listen to the waves. Loved it. 5. Buffet Breakfast (8-10) and Dinner (1930-21.30) is served in the Restaurant situated at the rear right hand side of the grounds where you can choose to sit inside or out. Food was superb and just the right amount of choice. 6. Wifi coverage is very good, we were still in range even at the beach . 7. MiniMarkets. A) turn left out of hotel gate near the beach, walk along road and there is one on the left hand side about 500 yards +. Or B) turn right out of gate, walk along road to the “Forty One” bar, turn right down lane and where road forks, take a slight left and there is a mini market there. 8. Pool Bar (10- 01.00) is situated rear of grounds on the left. ( Snack Menu 10.30-22.30). We shared Chicken Club Sandwich and Country Potatoes for lunch for example….fun cocktails in the evening, Zombie 9. May seem obvious to some people, however took me a couple of days to work out that power to the room only works when the key is inserted in the room slot….so make sure you charge your devices overnight. 10. Sunset Cruise with Tui. Euro71. Scary descent on the coach down to the port ..eek! Boarded wooden boat The Princess with plenty of shade at the rear. Bar & toilets on board. Sailed to Palea Kameni, where, for those competent swimmers, you could jump into the sea and swim to the “hot springs”. ( choppy waves and busy, but glad I did it ). Then onto Thirasia And a delicious traditional four course meal and wine at Captain John’s. Then we slowly sailed our way back watching the famous Santorini sunset against the islands. Beautiful.
We stayed for a week but wish it had been two. The hotel and grounds are immaculate and well maintained. The rooms are simple and elegant. We had one of the ground floor ones close to the pool. Initially, we were disappointed that we didn’t have a balcony, but after a day or so realised that we were better off where we were as we could chat with our two neighbours on the terrace and get to the pool really easily. There’s everything you need in the rooms, comfy beds and pillows, fridge, and if you ask you can get a kettle. We had a sofa but I’m not sure all the rooms do. The shower was powerful but the hairdryer wasn’t so maybe pack your own. Clean sheets and Fresh towels every day. Good air conditioning. The cleaners were excellent and kept everything spick and span. When we arrived, we noticed a small tear in the cover of the sofa and mentioned it to reception as we didn’t want them to think we had done it. By the time we got back to our room later that evening, it had been replaced!. Pool towels are supplied to though we had packed our own thinking as B&B guests they might not be available to us. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, they were fabulous. We have to give a special shout out to Edmond who will carry your bags to your room on arrival and come and say hello and give you a lovely smile every day. There is plenty of space and with the 4 pools there is somewhere for everybody. We didn’t spend much time at the beach which was literally a few feet from the gate, there’s a steep shelf into the water off the very hot black sand beach and we preferred it in the evening when the local families were there too. Perissa is about a 30-40 minute walk but it’ll take you longer if you keep stopping to find shade like we did. There are loads of restaurants within a 10 minute walk, certainly enough to try a different one every night for a fortnight! Small supermarket 2 minutes walk from the hotel which sold basics and booze. We met some lovely people on this holiday and wished we had booked for longer. We would highly recommend a holiday here.
Excellent - We will be back!
My daughter has just got married in Santorini and we stayed at Santo Miramare for the duration. Leading up to the wedding my daughter sent out various boxes for the wedding and they accepted, checked each parcel and stored them until her arrival. The staff are absolutely faultless. Very friendly. Breakfast was lovely. The waitresses and waiters were brilliant with my grandson. The hotel is spotless and the cleaners deserve a special mention, friendly and kept the rooms immaculate with daily cleans. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and the pool bar staff were amazing! I would highly recommend staying here, in fact we are going back next year! 10/10!
Amazing service, fabulous hotel
From the minute you check in the service you will receive is outstanding, the rooms are spotlessly clean, cool and the bathrooms are well stocked, it’s a calming, relaxing hotel located at the foot of a mountain and right on the beach, the beach is black sand that gets awfully hot so deffo pack your flip flops, I took the half board option and have had some of the nicest food I’ve had in a long time, the breakfast and dinner options are plentiful and Theo, Orestis, Alina, Lena and the team will look after your every whim, the customer service is fabulous, nothing is too much trouble, they’re all really friendly, polite and helpful (even when I broke half of the crockery!) Ive had lunch most days at the pool bar, the pizza today was absolutely lovely so it may just be pudding tonight at dinner! I would absolutely recommend this hotel (and I’m super fussy!) This was my first solo trip having lost my partner to cancer, I was worried I would feel like “Shirley Valentine” but everyone here has made me feel so welcome and genuinely cared for, I’m booking my return already! Great job guys xx keep up the amazing service
First and nice trip to Santorini
Our first trip to Santorini so we didn’t know quite what to expect of the island & resort. So I will break down everything as follows:- The Hotel. Very good, very clean and the service was excellent. Rooms are bright, airy and have aircon, TV is bad in regards to channels, but that isn’t a concern when you are on your holidays. Rooms have a fridge but no tea/coffee making facilities ( a shame .) Nice pool area and there are decent sun beds and plenty of shade with parasols and large palm trees - however be prepared to play the “sun bed towel game” before 7.00am, otherwise you wont get a sun bed at all ! This drives me crazy and the hotel could take steps to prevent this and should. Pool bar area is good, drinks are slightly more expensive than the bars down the strip and food is decent enough, but again better choice and quality at the numerous restaurants nearby. Breakfast buffet is perfectly good, not “stunning” but decent enough, be didn’t eat dinner at the hotel but those that did said quality was good but limited choice. In truth , I would strongly suggest you stay B&B only as you have so many restaurants to choose from right outside the hotel. The Resort Perevolos is a beach resort , black sand and fairly laid back. This suited us and a trip in Oia is around 30-40 mins with the hotel shuttle for the evening sunsets and you can also use buses to get around if you like. So if you want to stay in a resort that represents the standard images of Santorini , ie; white buildings, churches, cliffs and sunsets - dont stay here , but we welcomed the fact that we we in a quieter place and could travel in when we liked. Plenty of free sun beds on the beach , either with the hotel or the numerous bars and restaurants, you just have to buy some food or drink. Beach is black stones, pebbles and the sea is beautiful but fresh ! Summary A nice hotel on a lovely island , we thoroughly enjoyed the stay. We did some trips such as sunset cruise, visited the volcano , Oia at sunset and a fabulous wine tour ( Santorini wine stories - they are brilliant, see separate review.)
