Uusi, siisti hotelli Exotico

Kiva huoneisto ja erittäin siisti. Ihana iso ja syvä uima-allas, jossa voi pitkääkin matkaa uida. Aamiainen oli ihan riittävä ja monipuolinen (jukurttia, hunajaa&hilloja, kananmunia, juustoa, leikkelettä, paahtoleipää, hedelmiä, mehua ja kahvia). Rauhallinen ympäristö ja kuitenkin lyhyehkö matka rantaan. Ystävällinen henkilökunta. Omasta kaupasta sai juomat pienellä vaivalla jääkaappiin. Hyvä hinta-laatusuhde.

Terrible but could easily be so much better

This is a hard review to write! We stayed here in June 2023 as a family of 3. We knew it was only a 2* hotel so didn’t have particularly high expectations but was disappointed because it could so easily have been much better. Positives: Great location. Only about 10 mins walk to Valtos Beach The studio was fine for a 2* (except for flooding problem…) Good sized balcony It was clean when we arrived The lady who took us to our room and helped with our bags was lovely! The Jet2 rep (Eva) was as helpful as she could have been in the situation but we did warn her this hotel would cause Jet2 problems this summer. Negatives Our bathroom flooded during each night. It was dry when we went to bed but very wet each morning. When we told the owner, he promised to fix it. When it wasn’t fixed the next day we raised it with him and he became quite aggressive. He told me to shut up! But he did call someone who came the next morning but the repair didn’t solve the problem and it still flooded. It didn’t smell(!) so we think it was somehow coming from the shower and just mopped up each morning. The pool area looks nothing like the photos on the Jet2 site. It looks like the aftermath of a tsunami. Shame on you Jet2, you should change the picture because there are broken parasols, tatty beds, rubbish left. The restaurant could have been good but it was dirty eg dead ants stuck to the oil and vinegar. We only tried it once- my stuffed peppers were delicious, my son’s pizza was a packet one which was very poor. The mini market is a rip off and sold mouldy fruit. HOWEVER… for anyone due to go to this hotel, please know that 1) just being in Parga will be great 2) you can usually use other pools eg Mango club, Tango club, as long as you buy a few drinks or lunch there. 3) there are loads of places to eat and drink nearby 4) there are several other mini markets nearby if self catering. SO you can just sleep at the Exotico and still have a great holiday. We’re back in Parga again now, which is why I’ve finally found time to write this review. This time we’re staying (for the 6th time) at the Parga Beach Resort which is AMAZING!!

Hotel cancelled us 12 hours before flying

Our holiday was cancelled today. Due to fly tomorrow. This hotel could no longer accommodate us. From the reviews it looks like we had a lucky escape! Thankfully our holiday was transferred to another location and the kids still get a holiday.

OK room, good location, scruffy pool area

Our room was OK, clean, good size, good storage, nice bathroom. No cutlery, dishes or chairs on balcony when we arrived. Housekeeper got a telling off in front of us for not checking from owner Demetrius. Clean towels and bed linen every day. Location was good - 10 min walk to gorgeous Valtos Beach. Pool was great size but dirty. Around the pool we're old, broken straw umbrellas, not the lovely cream ones on all the photos on line. A swing chair with no cushions was an eyesore and possibly a danger to small children. Hose pipes left lying about - possible trip hazard. Discarded signage and paint pots lying around. We used the room to shower and sleep and avoided the pool, bar and owner ! We walked a minute up the lane (turn right) to Mango bar if we wanted a pool day - great place. Loved Parga, would not return to Exotico.

Sadly the owner ruins it completely!

Booked with jet 2. Didn’t know it’d be a “2 point transfer” - literally told “anyone left on the coach get off, this is last stop”. A few of us left on the coach were clueless as we were dumped down by the beach with our cases, until a minivan driver shouted on us. Really not clear at all. No oven as listed. WiFi sporadic, if you can actually connect. Tv with an equal mix of German and Greek channels, with a news channel thrown in there. A few painted lines at the side of apartments on hill for “car parking”. Rooms in need of an overhaul - no mosquito nets, fridge taped together, hot plates burnt out, tarpaulin over railings blocking views, holes in headboard and dents in bathroom ceiling?! Pool is a great size. Sadly, not cleaned thoroughly. Machine lobbed in,in the morning that takes grime off the tiles on the bottom, but also left in and operating as patrons want to use pool. Daughter found what she thought was a stone in the pool, I thought it was a bit of alabaster but turns out it was a solidified chlorine tablet around the size of my entire palm. Spotted a few of these which didn’t dissolve so we left being in the pool. Grates / drains around the pool are filthy and damaged (beware of wasps coming out of the drains), as are the public toilets adjacent to the pool. The “showers” (if they can be called that) at the side of the pool are laughable - one barely works, one doesn’t work, locks don’t operate as they should so there’s a piece of rope on the outside to tie the 2 handles together - hopeless if you’re on your own. Owner shrugs and does not understand… until he does. We ran into a few difficulties on our trip. Sadly, rep (Andreas) only visited sporadically, and seemed to hide so no one could find him on specific set out days / times. When we DID actually get a hold of him, he wasn’t all that forthcoming with helping us, and a few other families in regards to issues. At that point, owner DID understand our complaints and decided to scream at the rep. While my Greek isn’t fluent, I fully understood that he was demanding that we all leave - 8 of us over 3 parties - as he didn’t want to listen to it. From schmoozing us when we arrived, his mood soon soured, which seems like it has been a theme for years, given previous reviews. Very very aggressive man, but seems that he targets the females. Whilst we were there, we witnessed him screaming at his housekeeper in front of people at dinner. The fact that a diner had to intervene to check on her was disturbing. Even more disturbing is to find out that he done the very same the previous week to his other housekeeper - she got up and walked, never to return. Rep surprisingly turned a 180 within 24 hours and found owner to be a pleasant man - the day after he was being spoken down to in front of us, and with the housekeeper conversing with rep to echo difficulties she was facing and echoing our issues?! Did not appreciate Jet2s lack of concern for us, through the rep and social media contact, especially after another family flagging up that issues were still ongoing and escalating. Massively impacted on our holiday, and we were left feeling very uncomfortable and desperate to get home. Christina is the saving and only grace for this place - we laughed doing Google translate conversations. Always had a smile and a wave and tried to help us as good as she could. Don’t expect much from the menu - over the few pages listed, we were briefly told no after placing order - no moussaka, gyros, souvlaki?! Offered approx 5/6 items to choose from. Think he was feeding the cats everything else. Couldn’t rate the bar side of things - seeing the flies crawling out of the beer taps in the morning was enough to ensure that I stuck to my own cans. Overpriced shop. Out of date dusty goods. Loaves of bread that you could use as a baseball bat. If you weren’t laughing, you’d honestly cry. Listed as having a garden - not sure where that was exactly, was it the part next to the shop with the stock out in the heat alongside a beaten lawnmower, maybe the section that has the old rusted frame of a swing and one sunbed that the owner uses to have a sleep at several parts of the day? Who knows! Could continue with the failings for this place, but I’ll just applaud you if you’ve made it this far. PLUS POINTS A 10/15 min walk from closest beach with some bars / restaurants dotted along (our favourite was the Vekios Club - great staff, stunning views, good prices) and with the ability to get the boat “taxi” round to Parga if you wish. Mango Club restaurant literally a min walk away up the road was also good - nice meals, good pool, plenty of loungers, tables and chairs. Supermarket another min walk beyond Mango - very well stocked, reasonably priced, really friendly people working in there! Would I return? To Parga, possibly, but certainly not here under current ownership and state, and most probably not with jet2.
