Great Stay at Sentido Pearl Beach
Impressive hotel. Right on the beach, street parking, big pool with lots of space, clean rooms. The breakfast buffet (included) was the biggest and best of all the locations we stayed at in our three-week, four-island tour of Greece. I wish we had stayed longer there. Very nice area. Go to Nostos Seafood Restaurant; I had the best meal of my life there; it's within walking distance of the hotel.
My new favourite place to be :)
Visited in October 2022 with my boyfriend, having read great reviews, and was still pleasantly surprised at just how well we were received and how fantastic the staff is. The room (number 206) had a lovely balcony with a pretty view of the ocean and was spacious, clean and well laid out. Among the things that doesn’t always turn out great, here are a few from The Pearl Beach Hotel: Aircon worked like a charm, the blinds kept the light out, bath tub had non slip bottom and the safe was great (not one of those flimsy horrible things with keys). On top of this, the hotel is located in a great spot, just a nice stroll away from Old Town and the fortress and all the convenient stores in the area. The only thing I want to mention, is that you can hear a lot of traffic and quite a lot of “hotel sounds” from the rooms and the restaurant gets a bit noisy if you are sensitive to sounds, as I am, but this is easily remedied by bringing ear plugs. :) I had previously been in touch with the hotel to ask if vegan food could be made available to me and was assured it would be no problem. The maitre was always very helpful in assisting me and I had no problem finding things to eat, but I would advise the hotel that a vegan sign (they had a “vegetarian” one) would help the guests and be great for the times when the maitre is otherwise busy or you just want to be able to choose on your own. Also: signs for side dishes would have been fantastic too and… maybe some more options for breakfast (like plant based yoghurt) and a dessert every once in a while. (I also want to point out that I didn’t ask for any of these things as I am sure they might have been able to help me!) The evening entertainment was a treat! I especially loved the amazingly skilled Greek dancers and the engaging herb lesson! (Wish I hadn’t caught a cold or we would have attended all of the evenings!) The SPA is a gem, and the staff is great. My bf was very happy with his massage and I loved my treatment. I was surprised that the “jacuzzi” wasn’t a hot tub, only a bubbly tub, but it was nice still. I especially want to thank the staff for how well they handled the stormy days when the hotel’s lounge was filled with people and I am sure they were a lot busier than usual. They handled it beautifully, and always with a smile. Also: thank you so much for being so kind and helpful, sending food up to our room etc, when I got a cold! It turned out to not be covid but I didn’t want to risk it and I am ever so thankful for the extra service! We will be back, and we have already recommended you to quite a few people. Ta leme!
Familiar Staff to us from many previous Visit, Home from Home a Fantastic Hotel
We got one of the rooms which hasn't had the bathroom upgraded on our arrival which was late at night so got a change in the morning with no issues or dramas at all. The food was excellent for our whole 11 night stay. The inside pool seemed a little colder than normal but it wasn't an issue as the outdoor pools were great and the weather was perfect. The spa pool beside the inside pool was great. The beach is so handy just a walk across the road and you are there 30 second walk. You need sea shoes as the water line can be very stoney so unless you have feet of steel it can be quite painful but sea shoes fix that issue no problem, all the wee shops sell them as well right beside the hotel. We have been about 8 times to the Pearl Beach and it is hard to imagine going to Rethymnon and not staying there, the staff love out little girl as well and are lovely and genuine people.
Great hotel, with exception of the beach service
We stayed for a week and the only rather big and annoying issue we had was with the beach. When we booked it was advertised that the hotel has private beach, and this was one of the main things we were looking for. When we went to reception to collect the beach towels we were advised that it's going to be a "6euros charge per stay" for 2 beach chairs and an umbrella. OK, fair enough we thought, 1euro per day for beach maintenance, that's fine. First day we paid the 6 euros, left another one as tip for the beach guardian/waiter, no receipt but all OK. Second day we went for a trip, so didn't went to the beach but on the third day, when the beach guy approached us, we happily salute him, tell him our room number. Than he very rudely asked for 6euros. Now its not about the 6 euros, which, anyway, its robbery, never in Europe paid for chais on a hotels private beach, but about this man's attitude. Was utterly shocking and disgusting, spoiled all our day and left us speechless. He could just say, sorry, must have been a misunderstanding, it's 6 per day, but no, he started shouting and made us feel very uncomfortable. We didn't even said nothing else than hello, kalimera, how are you today, we are room xxx. And he started shouting that people keep changing chairs and expect to stay for free... Like... Wtf?! Later we saw that we were not the only ones in this situation. However, we got a receipt this time. Than we noticed him touching a lady in a way that made her very uncomfortable. Disgusting behaviour, just put us off. We never stepped on that beach as all the ones around are offering free seating with orders and you would anyway order at least a drink or sandwich on a beach day. About the hotel, nice garden, nicer than the pictures, good pools, most of the staff is great. All together, a good stay, but for the price paid, could have been better.
We were on a couples vacation, and stayed at Sentido Pearl Beach hotel. We arrived late and they followed us and the other tourists to our room. They had given our room to someone else, so we walked in on two other tourists. But we got another room, and that quick. So no worries. It was a nice hotel, nice and friendly staff, we LOVE the tourist guide/water aerobic/dancing/everything man that showed us the old town. He's the best! Friendly, funny and an amazing face outwards for the hotel. Give that guy a raise! ;-) But one thing we really didn't like, and that you should think about before booking this hotel: It wasn't written on the webpage (it should!!), the bathroom is inside the bedroom. No joke. The shower and sink was next to the bed, and the toilet had glassdoors around it, and you could see the shadow of your partner at the toilet. You get no alone-time at the toilet, in the shower or anywhere else in a room for two. We got another room some days later with separate toilet, and the man who helped us said that 90% of the rooms didn't have a separate toilet. For a romantic getaway, or if you have a bowel disease, this it really not a good choice of a hotel. They should write it on the room reservation choices.
