Lovely if you want a quiet holiday.

We had such a lovely time at the Almirida Bay Hotel. We stayed a week. The service was great. The women at the Reception were professional, the waiting staff excellent and lovely, helpful, funny and helped with anything we needed. Breakfast was same every morning but very good. We had a standard double room with pool and sea view. Basic but clean. Room service good.Definately somewhere to go if you want quietness. we were there from Sep 30th to Oct 7th and it was not busy and quiet. Suited us well. Thank you Almirida Bay. Hailey and Tony.

Supernice place, don’t miss out

This is such a nice place! The hotel has everything you need; close to the beach and a number of splendid restaurants, comfortable rooms, good food, great pool and excellent service. Extra points because of Maria in the restaurant who made every meal excellent. Thank you!

What a fantastic Hotel , What a view , real Greek foot in a Hotel

We booked a hotel very quickly in a new area, although we have been visiting Crete for many years with half board and budget. Our vacation was just a big surprise. Perhaps it is the largest swimming pool in western Crete, perhaps the most beautiful, romantic and peaceful hotel view from the pool and from the room. We expected an ordinary classic international buffet that hotels of this category usually have. to us a big surprise every hot food and a surprise. The hotel had many English and Scandinavians clients where we took over and explained to them about the food and they were delighted with the taste and variety. We will definitely vacation in 2024 again at the same hotel and I hope the cooking will not change.

Would not recommend at all

To start with the nice things, the hotel is in an okay location with a 10 minute walk to the beach and strip area- however, it is an up hill walk on the way back (something to keep in mind). The rooms are a good size, with a mini fridge, tv (no English channels) and air conditioning. The pool area is also nice. The bad things: The food is of an awful standard and no variety. If you are vegetarian/vegan or have any dietary requirements I would not recommend coming here on breakfast, half-board or all inclusive. The photos show of chefs cooking fresh food in front of you, this is a lie- we didn’t see any chef during our whole stay. The manager asked us whilst we were eating dinner how we were finding the hotel, to which we replied there wasn’t enough vegetarian options, only one ever available. He said that’s not true and argued that potato and rice are mains. If you’re half-board, you have to pay for all of your drinks at dinner time, including tap water. The manager laughed at us when we said that it is a necessity and shouldn’t have to be paid for. When discussing with the manager about how we were finding our stay and we mentioned the lack of food and having to pay for drinks at dinner time (even with half-board), he replied well we’re a 3 star not a 4 star what do you expect. He also said that wherever you stay internationally you do not get free water, we said this what not true as we had stayed in lots of places and all of them offered free water, he basically said we were lying. His unprofessionalism was unacceptable as we were trying to enjoy the awful food as it was to which he only made worse by arguing with us in front of all of the other hotel guests. In our room alone, the shower head was cracked so would constantly spray in either of our faces whilst trying to shower, another guest told us that they didn’t even have a shower curtain. There is a bath but not a plug so you can’t even opt for a bath instead of shower. There are sheep and cockerels outside our room, which we were often woken up at 5 in the morning to. As you can imagine very annoying when you’re on holiday. The hotel also charges you to use beach/pool towels, this is a €2 daily charge and then another €2 to clean the towels. The hotel has very poor lighting, the bathroom is very dark as the only light is a small one above the mirror. Around the hotel is very dark, no lighting; you have to use your phone torch to get around at night time. When doing excursions you are offered a breakfast bag which consists of a minimalistic stale sandwich, with rock hard bread, as well as a bottle of water and juice box. The bread in general at breakfast time is stale anyway and as described above the whole food is just of a very low and poor standard. Two of the receptionists are very rude, where the hotel lacks in quality of food they could possibly make up for with their hospitality but that seems to be a struggle too. Side note: an excursion offered is the Samaria gorge, which is beautiful but described as an easy hike. This is definitely not the case, it consisted of an 19km hike pretty much all down hill on very slippery terrain, which you are not made aware of. We’re both in our 20s and could barely move for the next 3 days as our legs were so sore.
