Kos Psalidasi, Aegean view Aqua resort
Ihana hotelli vuorella, kaunis näköala, hyvä ruoka, siivous kunnossa, henkilökunta ystävällistä, ilmainen kuljetus Kosin keskustaan ja takaisin ja mahtavat uima-altaat liukumäkineen + päivittäin aktiviteettejä.
Mukava loma Kossilla
Great hotel, don’t let the bad reviews put you off
I saw the reviews shortly before we went and was a bit worried but we really did enjoy our stay. The staff were ALL amazing and super helpful as I have mobility issues. The porters would take me up to our room without question, the restaurant staff were fab especially the manager, the reception, shop and bar staff were all really helpful. They are running with limited facilities (understandably due to covid) so only one restaurant was open. The salad and desert section of the buffet were great, there were some hiccups with the hot food being cold however this does happen from time to time with a buffett. We just tried to time our lunch / evening meal around when they open. I do have mobility issues so the site is a little bit challenging, I would recommend you hire a mobility scooter for ease. We couldn’t get hold of one, but the porters were always available to give us a lift!
Let down not as described - maybe a little like Fawlty Towers
Well where can I start... Went on a package holiday with Jet2 to this four star resort in August 2021. Advertised with several tour operators as having lots of great facilities, however, if you are considering booking this hotel, please do not! The advertising of this hotel must surely break trading standards. Facilities: Spa - closed. The pool inside was empty and there were pipes and windows lying around inside suggesting it hasn’t been open all season, although it is still mentioned on the websites of tour operators and the hotel’s website. Shuttle bus - stopped. No shuttle bus running to the local beach or Kos town and hasn’t been all season according to hotel staff. There are a few public buses each day at a small cost. They were always on time but there are not many each day and stop early evening. Taxis available but not very reliable meaning that travelling to and from resort is not easy. We did walk to the town and the beach several times(about 30-40 minutes, but the walk back was all uphill and not really practical in the heat/dark) Linen: towels were tatty and stained, bed sheets clean but worn. Rooms are dated although beds are very comfortable. Air conditioning: both our ac units stopped working during our stay and took several days to get fixed. We know that others had similar problems. Restaurant and bar facilities: most closed. There was only one restaurant (canteen), the main bar and the snack bar at the water park that were open. The taverna, roof top restaurant, roof top bar and pool bar were all shut (never even saw the advertised swim up bar), meaning that if we were at our room by the pool we had to make a five minute walk and back to get a drink, even for water and coffee as even these were not provided in the room. Aqua park: we really enjoyed this, however the photos are not current. There was a small slide and two slightly bigger ones that we had a lot of fun on. There is an inflatable but not as much as shown in most of the photos we have seen and one part of it was not inflated properly. Snacks: hit and miss. Often ran out and the pop corn and candy floss evenings advertised didn’t always happen. Evening entertainment: none Daytime entertainment: a programme was advertised but we never saw much sign of it. Health and safety Broken tiles around the pools. Not enough lighting around the pools at night Tiles overlapping a handrail on some steps Lights hanging off in swimming pools Erratic golf buggy driver who hit walls and other obstacles including a friend’s sun lounger as she relaxed! When one of our party cut his foot on a screw that was sticking out of the wall in the swimming pool, not only were the advertised medical services not available, there wasn’t even a first aider or first aid kit. Staff Very grumpy!!! Most were rude and unhelpful (except Stephanie on reception who just seemed embarrassed, and the lady in the Aqua park snack bar) and gave the impression that the guests were an inconvenience. Bar staff openly taking bribes to pour larger drinks. The bar staff work really long hours and clearly don’t enjoy the job or like people There was a rule that you could only take two drinks from the bar meaning that families or groups had to all go to the bar or make several trips. Food Whilst there was a range of food, it was pretty much the same each day at lunch and dinner. The hot options were generally luke warm at best and was definitely more like a canteen than a restaurant. Due to the fact that two out of three restaurants were closed despite the resort being busy, and because the lunchtime service was only and hour and a half and dinner an hour and 45 minutes, it wasn’t alway easy to get a table. We went away as a group of 13 and could only sit together if we used the few outside tables which were often taken. This meant that mealtimes were not the relaxed experience that they should be on holiday. We were told by our rep that this was due to covid, however cramming everyone in one place seems counter productive as far as that is concerned. We ended up going out for our evening meal more often than not - there are lots of fantastic restaurants in Kos and along the seafront. This hotel is brilliantly designed, is in a lovely setting with beautiful views, the rooms are thoughtfully laid out. In theory it has all the right ingredients (if they were actually on offer), it is just a shame that it is so poorly run.
