Ihastuttava
Hotel Continental Palace, Kos
Good value hotel. All the staff were fantastic especially George in the restaurant. Rooms spacious and very clean with a nice sea view! A decent TV (took our Firestick to get English channels). Bathroom a little dated but had plenty of towels and Toilet Rolls, room cleaned every day. Swimming pool and snack bar area very nice with plenty of Sunbeds. Beach and Marina across the road. Beach across the road free Sunbeds just had to buy one drink not pushy, this meant you could just spend an hour or two without worrying about cost. Food in the hotel was OK we only ate out twice during our 11 night stay. Loads of fresh fruit and lots of Greek Dishes. Breakfast was very nice 4 different flavoured Yoghurts but the bacon not the best if you are used to English bacon. There were often 1 or 2 cats wondering about the dining room and bar, this wasn’t a problem for us but if you don’t like cats or have allergies it might be a problem (there is not much the hotel can do about it if people feed them). The position of the hotel was very good about 20 minutes walk to the centre of the town and within 10 minutes you are in an area of shops, bars and restaurants (there is bus stops both ways outside the hotel). Taxis are available from reception and cost 7 euros to Kos Town centre. Lambí beach on the other side of Kos Town (Nissi Bar) is very nice and well worth a visit! Overall I would recommend this hotel as good value for money and while it is not a 5 star we had a very nice holiday there and would go again.
Some people just like to Moan!!
Right.. first of all, do not take any notice of the negative reviews… some people will never be happy, you can’t book a bargain holiday and expect the Savoy!! We’ve only just come back from a really lovely week. I’m a very picky person regarding food and beds, yes the beds are on the firm side, but I’ve notice my bad back has almost gone, and I did sleep ok. Regarding the food, I’m so puzzled by the bad reviews, seriously we ate most things, if you get there at 7, wen the evening meal has started, it’s all lovely and hot and I managed to eat nearly everything and thoroughly enjoyed it all…. The staff all work incredibly hard, they’re friendly, the hotel has to cater for all nationalities, so obvs food is varied. Yes my only gripe and my reason for deducting one star… they don’t provide water with evening meal, that it surely something that could be addressed. Also no tea or coffee facilities in room, we luckily brought our own travel kettle . The rooms are dated but not the worst we’ve stayed in. And cleaned every day I would def go back Thankyou to all staff etc for making our holiday enjoyable
A Good Base
We had two weeks at the Continental Palace on a package deal with TUI, which was probably cheaper than a self catering, self drive 4 night stay at Center Parcs in the UK! We'd not been to Kos before and wanted somewhere as a base for exploring the island using public transport. We found the hotel busy with various nationalities catered for, not just the British, so the entertainment and food offerings reflected this, which we welcomed. It's true to say that the food is not the best and it was evident that cheap ingredients are used. Nonetheless, the food was always plentiful with a choice of different dishes each day, so you didn't go hungry. We particularly liked some of the local Greek dishes. The rooms were spacious and contrary to previous reviews, the fridge was provided free, along with the WiFi, and a plentiful supply of hot water. The communal areas were always kept immaculate and our room was serviced daily. There is ample seating for outdoor dining, which is nice for breakfast, and the gardens and pool area are ideal for sun bathing. The staff were very friendly and hard working, particularly the lady in the restaurant who said she hadn't had a day off since May. The hotel is conveniently located for Kos Town, which is an easy 20 minute walk away along the promenade. Going in the opposite direction, you'll find some nice beachside bars/restaurants, although there is nothing after the BP station. The local buses stop near the hotel, and go to Kos Town in one direction, and to Aghios Fokas (No.1) and Thermes (No.5) in the other direction. The hot springs at Thermes are good fun and are free although you have to trek down to them and back from the car park, and there are no toilets there. If you want to travel further afield you have to go to the main bus station in Kos Town. Here you'll find buses to Kardemena, Tigaki, Mastachari etc. If you're looking to dine out as a change from the hotel food, there are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity and in Kos Town. Also, there is a good supermarket less than 10 minutes walk away - turn left out of the hotel, and take the next left passing Lithino Restaurant and just follow the road past the prison and its just around the corner. We had a lovely late summer break at the Continental Palace, so if you're not too fussy about your food and don't demand a varied entertainment programme, this is an ideal base for a holiday in Kos.
Good hotel in a great location
My wife and I stayed for a week in the Continental Palace and we had a great time. The hotel is on the outskirts of Kos Town about ten minutes walk to the harbour and there are supermarkets within five minutes walk. The Marina is virtually opposite the hotel and is well worth a visit and there is a sand and shingle beach opposite the hotel which is ideal for sunbathing and swimming. The hotel staff were invariably friendly and helpful. The hotel was kept clean throughout and our room was large and well appointed. Wi fi was free as was the air conditioning and we had no complaints. The hotel is in a quiet area but KosTown and all its attractions are close by.
