Mukava, lapsille sopiva hotelli

Olimme perheen kesken 12 päivän reissussa, 3 lasta mukana, 2, 6 ja 7 vuotiaat. Hotellilla erinomainen hinta-laatusuhde. Huoneet siistit ja mukavat, vasta remontoidut. Hyvin suunnitellut kun terassilta ei äänet kuulu makkariin. Saimme vähän syrjemmästä huoneen niin oli erittäin rauhallista. Uima-allasalue kiva, ruohomatto altaiden ympärillä lasten kannalta erinomainen. Lämmitetty allas oli oikeasti lämmin, 27 asteista joten lapset tarkenivat uida hyvin, muutenkin allas kiva kun matalampi pääty alle metrin syvyinen, ylsi lapsillakin jalat pohjaan. Pienemmille lastenallas. Aamupala ok. Bussikuljetus toimi hyvin rannalle, muuten vähän syrjässä mutta kävelymatkan päässä 2 kivaa leikkipuistoa.

A couple of tiny changes would make all the difference.

We have just returned from a week at Vista Oasis where I visited with my partner and our 2 year old Elliot who I name drop as he became best friends with Ramone the lifeguard and popular with many hotel people! The Good: The hotel is generally fantastic. The pool area is among the best we have had at any hotel, perfectly clean both in the pool itself and surrounding, with lifeguards going around sanitising handrails constantly. The small childrens park is also great as whilst not much by way of playing equipment, there is a nice fenced off area where your little one can run around, play with a ball etc. Sunbeds are comfortable and plentiful. The rooms are very nicely presented with a big shower room, plenty of space and good facilities. The view is absolutely spectacular if you are in one of the rooms overlooking Maspalomas (ours was room 79). We spent many hours at night sat with a beer overlooking this. Hotel staff are both friendly and helpful, particularly the lifeguards - Ramone being the real star who was fantastic with Elliot and the girl whos name I did not catch on the bar\restaurant area who is always smiling and very friendly. Also ignore comments that there isnt anything else in the area. If you turn right out of the hotel and walk 10 mins there is 3 or 4 restaurants, cocktail bar, large supermarket and even an Axe throwing range! The Poor: It isn't correct to say the food is poor. The food is absolutely fine and actually at times quite good, particularly for an All Inclusive resort at this price and the drinks were very nice, usually the beer at All Inc is barely drinkable but I certainly drank plenty here! The issue with food here is the temperature. If you dont happen to time a fresh tray of food coming out, it will be cold. They dont have any heaters keeping the food trays warm so often you will tuck into your sausage and bacon at breakfast for it to be stone cold. A small change that would make a huge difference. The biggest change they could make here is also the smallest. The bar. Of an evening, many people like myself on holiday like to sit, grab a few drinks and socialise. It remained very cafeteria like and fully illuminated due to it also being the food area. Resulting in no real inviting atmosphere. At 8:30pm when food stops, all they need to do is dim the lighting slightly, put some candles on the tables outside and have some comfier seating options available other than the cafeteria table and chairs. A tiny change that would transform the area. Overall we loved the hotel. We would absolutely stay again but were just left feeling slightly empty of an evening. Particularly as the hotel is a good 30-40 min walk into the town for any proper bars.

Good value all-inclusive hotel

I stayed here in November 2021 for five nights all inclusive. Overall, I think you do get good value for money here and would definitely return in the future. I arrived quite early but was told that check-in was not possible until midday - not even five minutes before! When I did get in, first impressions were positive. The pool area has recently been redone, now featuring artificial grass and comfy sunbeds! It didn't seem too busy but there are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas available. The double room I had was excellent, having a fridge and cooking facilities was a nice bonus for me! It is fairly spacious with a living area, TV and large balcony, which overlooked Maspalomas. Cleanliness wasn't an issue. The food is probably the biggest downside. The restaurant doubles-up as the entertainment room and is quite small, so the choice is fairly limited. Breakfast was good but the lack of scrambled egg on all days wasn't perfect for me, being a vegetarian. Lunch featured pizza with different flavours on different days as well as chips, bread rolls, salad, ice cream, cake - all the things us Brits would usually eat! Dinner was largely the same, minus the pizza. Sometimes the food was a bit cold but the lack of heaters for the food probably didn't help! In comparison, the drinks were excellent. Tropical beer, wine, Sangria are all there. The measures seemed very strong. This was no bad thing but I think I consumed more vodka than I should have of an evening due to this. There was basic entertainment in the evening which consisted of a singer but this didn't happen every day. One thing to watch out for is the safe - I was informed that the first day was free but had to bring the key back the next day to avoid paying for it.

Could be so much better

I have reviewed numerous hotels, and Vista Oasis was one of the hardest to think about a star rating for. Whilst, on the outside, it was a nice holiday, several things that we'd initially overlooked combined to lower the rating... and one thing that I find particularly sad is that in the last hour of our holiday we witnessed something that lost them an extra star... but I'll come onto that at the end. Vista Oasis has a lot of pros and cons. We'll start with the pros. PROS:- The price. It's very good value for an all inclusive. The bungalows are a reasonable size, and each has it's own small outdoor area. The food is average. A slightly smaller buffet selection than other local comparable hotels, but the evening meals were reasonable varied. There is a good drinks selection included in the price. Most are non-brand, but again, good value. It has a very nice pool. CONS:- The beds were by far the hardest I've ever tried to sleep on. After the first night, we actually spent the remaining 6 nights sleeping on the pull out sofabed in the lounge. Upon booking, you're given an option to choose a 'double', but (as a lot of other hotels do) this resulted in two single beds being put together. However, unlike other hotels, they are 'made' singly, which means that a couple cannot sleep together. No mention was made at the reception that a €5 refundable deposit would be required for the TV remote. Whilst understandable, it also wasn't mentioned at check out that I was due it back, and it was only when we returned to the airport that I remembered that they hadn't given it to me. Breakfast, and lunch, are repetitive and unappetising. Breakfast consists of hotdog style sausages, fried ham, fried eggs, beans, churros, toast, and various meats/cheeses. Whilst this sounds okay, it's the same every single morning... and after the 3rd day we simply walked to the local Spar to but croissants instead... not a good sign for an 'all inclusive'. Lunch generally consisted of hotdogs (again), burgers (occasionally), pizza and a mixture of meats. The main issue here was that it was luck whether they'd got rolls to put the hotdogs and burgers in. Invariably they didn't. The bar closes at 10.30. Whilst I'd understand the all inclusive finishing at 10.30 (to an extent), that's an extremely early time for a bar to close. There is entertainment on 4 times during the week. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights are a lady singing songs, with optional karaoke, and she was excellent... but Friday night was a man playing the drums to, what I can only describe as the music you'd hear in a lift, and by 9pm we were the only people left in the bar. The location isn't good. If, like us, you're intending on doing a lot of excursions, VERY few pick up people from this hotel. The majority will collect from the Mirador which is a 10 minute walk away. There is very little else (a Spar and 2 restaurants) within walking distance of it. In all, it was "okay"... and up until this point, especially considering the value, I'd have given it 3/5. Our last day, we were getting picked up at 2pm. This meant that for the first time that week, we actually had time to just lounge by the pool. The were two groups of northern UK people sitting on opposite sides of the pool. The ones near us were swearing heavily. It didn't particularly concern us, we didn't have children with us, but at 11am when the all inclusive started, the alcohol started freely flowing. At about 1pm, one of them pulled a speaker out, and commenced playing really loud music right next to us. Had it not been for the fact we were leaving shortly afterwards, I might have said something, however my main concern was that the lifeguard, who was sat next to the pool for the entire day, failed to do anything about it. A few minutes later, we heard raised voices from the other side of the pool, and the other group pulled out a speaker in an attempt to drown out the other group's music. It was an absolute farce, and visibly disturbing numerous people attempting to simply quietly sunbathe. It was for the reason alone, and witnessing the staff allowing it to happen without intervening, that Vista Oasis would never be on our list again. There are several other similarly priced hotels nearby (that I've stayed in), but Vista Oasis is by far the worst that you could possibly choose.
