Prime location, away from the beaten track, and amazing views
i would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. We stayed there for 5 days at the beginning of 2021 and would go back in a heartbeat. And if you´re into windsurfing or kite-surfing, then this is the closest definition to heaven on earth that I could find. The weather wasn´t particularly good when we were there, but it was dry and allowed us to explore the area and the island. We went for long walks along the beach, got the most amazing sunrise pics and managed to work out on the beach each day with our resistance bands and free weights. A very ample and varied breakfast was included in our rate and we had dinner at the restaurant one night - great value for money. You definitely need a car to stay at this property but if you´re looking for somewhere to switch off, re-charge and enjoy nature, this is the place
Great location, rude staff
The hotel is marketed as 4* and they do make you feel it. The staff, with the exception of one front desk guy who checked us in, behaves like they are doing you a favour - restaurant and bar staff, chambermaids. Everything you ask for is met with a blank 'no', never a smile. The location is great if you are into windsurfing and kite-surfing, the brilliant windswept beach you can walk on for miles. The swimming pools are not heated, which is a challenge if you are in a peak tourism season, Christmas, and the weather is cold and windy (solar panels can be the answer?). The rooms are ok but can benefit from the upgrade. The showers are hot, the bed is comfortable, the linen wasn't always clean. The food was great at dinner - and Christmas day dinner was superb.
Great location but hotel in need of revamp
Stayed there 20 December 2020 till 27 December This our 3rd stay and the last Apart from the great location there are 3 main faults, the bar staff, the food and the general state of the hotel The old members of the bar staff are rude and arrogant that need training in hospitality. The all inclusive drinks are awful’ the white wine is probably the cheapest we have ever had,. The food is dreadful with bossy kitchen staff especially the young lady with tattoos on her arms. Unless you have an omelette for breakfast freshly made the rest of the food is lukewarm. The general appearance of the hotel is fair but our room was shabby in places more like a 1 star hotel. When you consider how difficult it has been this year, the extra cost of COVID-19 tests etc you would think the hotel would just try a little better. We walked into main town of Costa Calma most hotels closed!!!
Extremely nice location- best view!
Location: perfectly located outside of Costa Calma directly at the beach (Kite and windsurf hotspot with lagoon) with ocean view and sand dunes. No buildings are nearly located so the view is amazing. I loved waking up and see the ocean and the sand dune. Room: definitely panoramic sea view recommended. It is on a higher floor with sun all day and view to the ocean and dunes. Other rooms can be in the shadow or have parking lot view - that is not nice! I felt very comfortable in the room due to the sofa and large balcony with 2 sunbeds. The room and bathroom are spacious, the design is a little old style but the colors are nice. Bed is unfortunately not very comfortable - it is okay to sleep but pillows could be better and I did not like that 2 beds are pulled together. I am not sure if they also have king size beds which would make it for couples more comfortable. Better mattress, option of king bed, better and more pillows and all would be perfect. I assume that our room was refurbished since I did not see any dirt on the walls or rustic corners etc. Hotel: not nice from the outside, a typical big block from the 80s. The lobby is quite huge with a bar and lounge areas; not so cozy due to the high ceiling but okay. Nice shop with surfing brands, little grocery shop as well. Due to Corona only the buffet restaurant was open which was appropriate. I like the outdoor seating area. Breakfast was good and offered a lot of choices although there were not many guests due to Corona. Pool area very nice, large laguna pool and a seperate 25m pool to swim lanes. The garden is well maintained with lots of palm trees and plants. Like a little oasis. The palm trees are also down at the beach where Rene Egli kite school and bar is. Unfortunately the beach area there is quite small and beachbeds are not from the hotel and are charged extra. Of course you can go directly to the beach in front of the water where is plenty of space (but no beachbeds - luckily). Gym was closed due to Corona, Spa as well. Overall the hotel needs here and there some renovations; you see that it had better times. However, I was very happy with the room (the view, the couch, the coffee table, the make up table, the balkony...), happy with the brekfast, happy with the location and the pool area. Close your eyes when it comes to details (broken stone piles outside, old tennis court, old lift,...). I definitely felt relaxed and I loved not being in a touri hotspot (like Jandia, Morro Jable, Correlejo,...).
Nice hotel at the beach with good food
Pleasant stay at the Melia Fuerteventura, good food, friendly staff, nice location at the beach and lagoon. Very quiet location, without a car one won't be able to go anywhere except to the beach. But all basics you need are available at the hotel, incl. Small shops etc. Hotel reception / front desk is severely understaffed. Only 1 staff and very long queues most of the time. This is not acceptable, was a severe problem. Wifi works, depending on the room, but quite slow. Rooms in general are not the freshest any more, but ok in general.
